My 2005 Dodge Neon (Metallic Blue with chrome accents) did that to me earlier this year. I could not find out what the problem was, even though I am great with cars. I have a 02 dodge mine has always pulled and I got mine brand new Be careful because my car just caused me a wreck I put it in park and pulled the emergency brake up and turned off the ignition and it went rolling dragging me and my 6 year old son. I just bought a new 2005 Neon SXT with the 4 speed auto. It was made in 9/05, the last month of production for Neon. There will be no 2006 model. Anyway to answer your question the automatic shifts fairly smooth, not as smooth as the 5 speed auto in my Ram but it doesnt snap your neck when it shifts. It is supposed to be adaptive to your driving style but I find it shifts smoother ... Read More...

Okay, Hopefully my experience will help you make a decision. Okay neons are bad cars they break down A LOT. I have a 2000 and it is in the shop every 3 months no joke I've had a cam sensor, speed sensor, power steering pump g, head gasket, just had my freeze plugs done, 2 windows, a door, 2 motor mounts and tons of electrial problems go out and all had to be replaced. We got our 2004 Neon SXT late July 2004. We have almost 22,000 miles on it now. The only thing done has been reseting the left tire rod was not done correct at the factory, and that was done at less than 1,000 miles. This is our 3rd Neon, we still have a 96 with 175,000 miles on it, and we had a 2001. Of all this 2004 is the best. The four speed is nice,but shifts rather awakwardly ... Read More...
