'05 Tahoe OK
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 4WD 4dr SUV (5.3L 8cyl 4A)
Review
Great utility vehicle. Comfortable to drive, handles well for its size. Gets about 17 MPG in mixed (mostly highway) driving.
Favorite Features
Great in snow, and off road conditions. Handles well on higway also.
Suggested Improvements
Interior has some rattles and seems a bit on the cheap side.
A Chevy disappointment

Ecstatic was my state for the first 4 months of ownership. No accidents. But In the 2 yrs of ownership, Tahoe was shop ridden 3 times for steering column 'lubrication' and twice for electronics defects. Chevy and GMC know about the poorly designed steering column. however, they refuse to replace it instead only temporarily fix with lubrication package and it is underwarranty. So now I am stuck with a $40K quazi-lemon worth only $22k bc of the poorly held value of Chevy. I have grown up a Chevy guy, and still love the power and drive of the '05 Tahoe, but the mechanical problems of this brand new vehicle are a huge dissapointment. Sorry Chevy, but I am going to look at Toyotas.
Favorite Features
Ride comfort. 5.3L V8 provides ample power for such a large SUV. Large cargo capacity. Easily removable 3rd row seats.
Suggested Improvements
Mechanical and electronic quality. If I hold onto this SUV past warranty, I feel as though it is going to nickle and dime me to empty pockets for manufacturer defects.

Great SUV
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 4WD 4dr SUV (5.3L 8cyl 4A)
Review
Great overall vehicle, very comfortable and fun to drive. Has lots of features and is very well built. It has a great ride and is very stable on the road.
Favorite Features
Six disc changer in the dash with XM radio. Stereo and other function buttons on the steering wheel.
Suggested Improvements
I would recommend inproving the steering feel. It's too soft, not enough feedback thru the steering wheel.

Blessed to be driving my Tahoe
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Tahoe LT Rwd 4dr SUV (5.3L 8cyl 4A)
Review
We have been looking for a vehicle for about 6 months.I previously owned a Chevy Blazer with about 200,000 miles, so we definitely got our money worth. We know we wanted something American Made, so we looked at the Tahoe's & Yukon's. By far the Tahoe is the best out there! We weren't necessarily looking for all the bells and whistles, but we sure found it. We ended up purchasing the LT Autoride fully loaded, and wow, what a GREAT ride! We took my parents (who have always owned Cadillac's) and they said that it rides BETTER than a Cadillac! It is so quiet and smooth, but yet so powerful.
Favorite Features
I really like the Autoride, it was explained to us that it uses some kind of air suspension, so that the ride is very smooth and quiet. BOSE radio system is great! Sunroof is a lot of fun! It is very roomy and you really feel safe driving! I absolutely love having OnStar! Love the larger V8
Suggested Improvements
Everyone warned me about getting one due to gas prices, but to me it's well worth it and it's not as bad as they say. My previous vechile was so old that it was not as fuel efficient. If gas is a problem condsider the Flex fuel...that is a great alternative to gas!

Dress It Up!
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 4WD 4dr SUV (5.3L 8cyl 4A)
Review
I have owned several cars/SUV's in the past. I replaced a BMW 325xi with my Z71. I bought the Tahoe for 31k with 12K miles. Previous owner put 20" rims, dual side exhaust, all window tinted, nav, 6 disc, remote start, xeon lights and high flow air. Stands Out. I tow a 27' powerboat with the truck. Can't even tell it is being pulled. Ride great, handles better than expected. 13.2 mpg average. Driven as primary car in sales job, I use the nav system everyday. Powerseats and adjustments a must! XM radio great for N. MN and NW WI. Have owned 2 Honda Passports, Jeep Wrangler, Pontiac Bonneville, Dodge Durengo, BMW 325 xi, BMW i. Must say the Tahoe is the overall the most fun to drive.
Favorite Features
Nav system, xeon lights, high visability, power folding mirrors (car wash and ramps) 3rd row seats and captians chairs. Road trip with playstation on the DVD player makes time fly. Rips through the snow, turn radius better than expected
Suggested Improvements
If it has rained and you open the window you will get wet (water runs off roof and flows onto arm). Need to add window covers to keep rain out. Large gaps between body panels (compaired to bmw's) No option for rear camera on 05's...avalible on 06's. Wished it had overdrive for highway travel.

2005 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 4WD 4dr SUV (5.3L 8cyl 4A)

Hands down currently the best overall Full Size SUV on the market today. If you haven't had a test drive yet, get out there. One Warning, if you drive it, you will be sold. GM has stepped it up, Gen 3 is the real deal.
Favorite Features
Power, Interior, Look, Feel, Drivablity.
Suggested Improvements
Fold flat 3rd row seating, please!

2005 Chevrolet Tahoe LT Rwd 4dr SUV (5.3L 8cyl 4A)

I have never owned a vehicle this large before, but it doesn't drive like a big truck. I find myself actually enjoying road trips with my family of 7.
Favorite Features
Unlike most SUV's, you can actually fit people in the 3-rd row.

The Tahoe is reliable, confortable, and I do enjoy driving and riding in it. The mileage is getting better as time goes on and is about 2 mpg better than my 2003 model. It is very roomy and has more space than the Ford SUV's. Thanks Chevy

This Tahoe is fun to drive. It is sporty with lots of pick up and go yet it still hauls loads well. The interior is extremely comfortable. GM improved the design from the former 1999 Tahoe I had in the past. They put more consideration in for the passengers comfort as well as the driver. It handles very well with extremely good handling on corners and through snow and slushy conditions. Although the gas mileage isn't the greatest (15.9 in the city and 20+ highway)I highly recommend this vehicle.

Love my '05 Tahoe Z71 4X4
Vehicle

Review
I've owned my '05 Tahoe since July of this year and love it! Before this I owned a '98 Jeep Cherokee XJ and the Tahoe's ride is luxury compared to the Cherokee. It handles very well considering it's size and very easy to drive. Bumps in the road are barely felt. It has a nice 'cushy' feeling when it goes over bumps and dips. Not harsh at all. I've taken it off road once (very mild) and it handled itself very well. I know the Jeep brand has its heritage in off-roading but the Tahoe did just fine in minor situations. I feel confident driving in the rain too. I've gone through puddles on the freeway with the Jeep and felt a little hydroplaning but the Tahoe just drove through them.
Favorite Features
I love that the Z71 model is a complete package. I also love the rear flip up glass to access the rear cargo vs. having to open the entire cargo hatch. The leather seating is very comfortable and the heated seats are great for those cold mornings.
Suggested Improvements
I would say better fuel economy but it looks like they've taken care of that for the new '07 models. Standard side curtain air bags would be nice.
