Review

My truck had 165000 miles on it when I bought it. I have had it for a week and love it! It was very well taken care of, and nobody can believe the miles. It looks like a brand new truck with no miles on it, and drives even better! The best truck for the money- take care of it and it'll run and look like new for years to come.

Favorite Features

I like the design of the inside- it's open, big, and by no means cramped. My truck has every option on it besides a sunroof, and I wouldnt have it any other way. Heated seats, power sliding back window, sliding roof storage bin, heated mirrors, pedal adjusters, leather seats that never wear out.

Suggested Improvements

I wouldnt change a thing on my truck!

Whilst the F150 looks great, the vehicle has experienced problems with the steering wheel "shimmy" at 65- 70mph. Also the electrical componemnt that controls the a/c, heated seats have failed?

Favorite Features

Its look

Suggested Improvements

How about a gear indicator in the dashbroad, it would be nice.

Love this truck, this is my 5th truck I have owned thru the years and this is by far the most fun and most quality built of all the ones I have had. The truck rides beautiful, handles superbly and you can just feel the tough quality of the truck as you drive it. I bought new 17 inch 275 wide tires for it and it just looks like 4 wheel drive truck as high as it sits. The sound system is superb and you can for sure shut out all outside noise with the music on and AC on and windows closed.I would definitely recommend this truck over and over again.

Favorite Features

Styling. Cargo capacity and towing. Awesome ride for a truck. Sits high and firm.

Suggested Improvements

Better gas mileage, but that's about all.

Review

One the highest quality vehicle I have ever owned. Only major issues after 65,000 miles were a bad solenoid for the locking hubs and a temp gauge that is 6 degrees off. OE tires were borderline, and interior cloth stains quite easily. Interior quality was much better before they sourced this stuff out (yes, I worked at Ford years ago and still hold the competency of the truck group high). This thing has been down a lot of washboard dirt roads and on rough narrow two tracks and is still tight. K&E filter helped gas mileage a bit. Go with the 6.5' bed if you haul any lumber or want to use the bed for overnighters.

Favorite Features

Rear doors. Compass and outside temp gauges. Remote rear glass vent (mine didn't have it). Visibility (tall wide glass for off-road driving) - I would not take a Hummer where I took this thing (unless someone else covered the body damage and tow favors).

Suggested Improvements

Storage bins under rear seats. Lower bed depth (would help bed access and rear vision). Narrower side mirrors (extendable for towing). A composite bed cover that does not increase bed height.

I am very happy with my 2004 F-150. We use to to pull our 30' camper and never have had an issue with it. People even stop me and say, "you pull that camper with that truck"? The drawback is the 8 mpg when pulling. I have towed from Michigan to Mammoth Caves, to Maine and to Virginia and never had a problem. The interior is very nice for a truck and the black trim holds up very well.

Favorite Features

Towing capacity, interior, body style

Suggested Improvements

A/C needs to be colder, usually have to run on Max. A/C & Max A/C indicator lights are not bright enough in the day light.

Ford spark plug problems

Review

Really have liked the truck bought new and its many features. Truck is a supercab and it's very comfortable. However it's latest feature - spark plugs that blow completely out of the engine- have really changed my mind about Ford's build quality or lack thereof. Not only is it absurd that a spark plug can blow out of the engine but equally absurd how much it costs to repair. Ford recommends replacing the defective aluminum head with a new defective aluminum head rather than owning up the problem and recalling the many vehicles with their modular engine. Just search 'blown out spark plug' and witness the amount of complaints with both trucks and cars with this engine.

Favorite Features

Look, interior layout, and comfort.

Suggested Improvements

A reliable engine with spark plugs that stay in the engine. Better gas mileage.

Review

I bought my Ford new in 2004 and it is great. Even after 3 years its interior and exterior design has aged well. The powertrain is definitely underpowered when compared to the new trucks but it still holds its own. I have had no problems passing granny on the highway even while towing. The only real issue I have had with my Ford is the wiper cowl. I must have replaced it 3 times because the plastic clips keep breaking causing it to rattle on the highway (under warranty).

Favorite Features

Massive amount of interior room, unmatched ride quality, solid frame and drivetrain.

Suggested Improvements

The wiper cowl. The stock brake pads are cheap and produce more dust than I thought possible. Displacement on demand is needed to compete with GM fuel economy. Ditch the 4 speed auto for a 5 or 6 speed. Ford needs to give us the diesel F-150 and the larger displacement V8 they promised.

I love this truck. It has good power and it is a very smooth and quiet cab. While the fuel effeciency is poor at best, the truck is awesome.

Favorite Features

The leather seats, and dashboard looks very nice.

Suggested Improvements

While I love to have the windows down, sometimes I have to blast the music so I dont hear the brakes squeaking. The brakes are fine but the brake dust is just simply anoying.

I just bought a used Lariat Crew 4X4. I love it! It handles like a car, much better turning radius than any other truck I've driven. I feel confident when I buckle my kids in the back seat that they are safe! I think my wife loves it more than I do.

Favorite Features

Quiet ride, great power, turning radius, handling, reverse sensing, sunroof, memory sets, steering wheel audio controls, power slide rear window, heated power mirrors, leather seats,

Suggested Improvements

Four speed tranny? C'mon lets go with five or even six, gas mileage could be better

This truck is great. I bought it new and have only added dual exhaust, cold air, and a chip set at the low end of performance. What a difference these three items made. The truck is quiet and really a pleasure to drive. I will be getting another one this next month so I will have a new vehicle to pull behind my new motorhome.

Favorite Features

The best feature of my F150 is the quiet ride. The truck is smooth on shifting. I have driven every truck out there because of my job and we all fought over who got the Fords.

Suggested Improvements

There are two changes I would suggest to Ford. One, make a standard shift available with the 5.4. Second, offer more color options. I have wanted a true orange color for my last two trucks. Come on Ford!
