www.cadillacforums.com has areas on it's site that will tell you how to push certain buttons on the dash and put the car into 'diagnistic' mode. This will then display all 'codes', both current and history. This site then also has areas that describe what each of the codes mean. A very limited description, but a description. Thanks for the congrats lady. But I just got the base Deville. I like the base Deville's a little better than the DHS & DTS. And the reason is a silly one. Its because of the digital dash board. Zim, I'm in florida so there are quite a lot of Cadillacs down here, and I found the ones with low mileage 19000 to 30000 miles were (02,03,04) were about 19 thou to 24 thou - and that was for base devilles, not the DHS (DHS was very hard to find)- but if you have a trade and can bargain it should bring it down - it depends on the dealership - If you want to take a trip to Florida, ... But I live in Massachusetts and it seems like every one that I look at with about 50,000 miles is from $16000 to $19000. And every one of them that is under 50,000 is over &20,000. I own a 2004 Deville and have not had the problem you mention. I certainly sympathize with you in your frustration in that in the few minor problems I have had with my 2004 I found it hard to get timely solutions. The rings are carboned up. Take the car out and run it floored. Let it hit all the max rpm 's in each gear. You will probably see lots of black smoke coming out the tail pipes. Do this several times. Let it coast down after each run-up, this also helps break the rings loose. I'm not responsible for possible speeding tickets, since this process should take you up to 90mph ... Read More...

We have 2 04 Devilles used for a livery service. One runs perfect but the other has a major oil consumption problem. Cadillac is telling us that this is "Normal" The car uses over 3qt of oil in less than 3k miles. This is all highway travel. The Deville only has 50k miles on it and is under warranty.
