I may be wrong, but I believe acceleration "lag" was never really an issue for the 2004 thru 2006 models. I believe this became a discussion topic after the update for MY2007, when the drivetrain changed to the 6spd auto. We have a 2004 X3 3.0, which we bought as a CPO vehicle last summer. Car Leased in the beginning of Mar/2007 Rallye BMW, Westbury Here is our latest update with our X3 issue. Our car has been in 3 times for the same problem. Rallye Service tried putting the fix in for the 2nd time. They had their head man worked on the car. After 60K miles my wife's 2004 X3 2.5 finally needed brakes. Funny thing; the outside RR pad had begun to score the rotor but the pad wear sensor on the inside RR pad hadn't worn through yet- we never got a brake lining warning light. I have a 2004 X3 with the fake leather interior. I do not have the laminated wood so my car has held up fairly well. It almost has 70K on it. Right before 50K I had the driver seat cover replaced because there were tiny, almost razor-like slits that formed on the edge of the seat. Replaced under warranty and not had a repeat issue since. We just bought a 2004 x3 and it makes odd noises inside when turning corners and going over bumps and such. Does the noises sound as if they are coming from the doors? If so, it is a well-known problem involving the door seals and/or window seals. BMW has issued a few TSBs on the problem, so you might want to check with the dealer if your truck is still under warranty. ... Read More...
