Re: Drivers seat modification [dukiedoug]
I had the same problem with my 2004 545i's seat. I am 5'5' and the driver's seat was very uncomfortable. I needed a 1.5inch pillow (I used a very firm lumbar support pillow) to sit on, just so that the seat's comfort was tolerable. I drove around like that for 3 years, embarrassed every time I pulled in for valet parking or carwash. When I was looking for my next car, ... Read More...
Would anyone know if a car leasing company would buy my BMW 530i 2004?
Re: Would anyone know if a car leasing company would buy my BMW 530i 2004? [kismet1]
A car leasing company is definitely not going to buy it. Leasing companies buy new cars. I'm not positive, but you might be asking a tad too much for your car. A potential buyer can find a 545i of the same vintage, equipment, and mileage in the same price range. Read More...

Which Tires??
Have a 2004 525i with the sports package and the 530i 18 in rims. Original tires on car were Goodyear Eagle NCT5 RSC 245/40R18 93W. Had tire issues in Texas and BMW dealer replaced them with Yokohama AVS ES100s. Car has a crazy howling sound when going down the road. My F-150 is quieter going down the road (really). The cheapest I've found the original tire for is $400 ... Read More...
It's funny shipo
for 7 years and over 135,000 miles my Mom drove a 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300E with RWD (no traction or stability control) and snow tires (during the winter). During the '90's we had some pretty nasty winters here in the suburbs of NYC (part of which fueled the SUV craze). My parents sold the 300E and leased one of the first 1998 CLK 320s (RWD) for four years. The winters ... Read More...
Re: 400,000 americans died from smoking cigarettes [ny540i6]
As a compromise, why not leave the dipstick, add the electronics to make it "easier" (though I believe that anyone who was not bothering to check the oil by opening the hood is not going to bother to check it otherwise) and satisfy those of us who actually do things like change oil, or check levels? That makes too much sense. BMW appears to be committed to making their ... Read More...
Re: Very close to buying a used 2004 545i [djl01]
From the pricing I have seen that sonds like a good deal with all the options. Don't forget that a full 100k warranty will add about 2k. Most on this forum are BMW fans so I don't think you will hear much on the cars being unreliable. Read More...
Very close to buying a used 2004 545i
Hi all, I'm hoping to get some advice on buying a used BMW 545i. First of all, it is black w/ the beige leather, full options, heads up display and only 32k miles on it. It was a lease return but is NOT CPO. The full service warranty is up this year in 9/08 and the carfax report shows it was maintained regularly and had no prior damages. Paint, rims, body, etc. are all immaculate. ... Read More...
Re: 2004 530i Lease return [bristol2]
I am going from a loaded v6 Accord sedan with 6-speed, giving up approx 20 hp with the move to the BMW. Will I be disappointed by the get up and go? Did you drive the car? I also drive a 6-spd accord sedan. I recently test drove a 330Ci automatic and thought, even with the auto, it blows the doors off my Accord. Its not all about HP numbers. What I find with my Accord is that ... Read More...
