2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6 2dr Coupe (2.7L 6cyl 5M)
Review
I purchased this Tib GT for my wife. We saw it at the Denver Auto Show in 2001 as a 2003 model for 2002. She wanted her first new car and we were comparing it against the Honda Civic, Nissan Sentra and a couple other compacts. We decided Hyundai for they had the best warranty, standard features and best style. Test drove it and fell in love. Bought the third one in the state. Reliabilty is insane, I've owned around 10 vehicles and this GT is by far the most reliable. Maintain it and it goes and goes. It's quick, fast and fun. Winter 2006-2007 was rough here in Denver with Blizzards and all. But with only all season tires, never got stuck. 89,000 and still screams down the road.

I'm 6'2" if the seat would go back a couple more inches, it would be heaven- but I've been in worse.

This has been a great car -52K. After driving a VWGTI and Tibs I couldn't justify the extra 8G's for the VW. I still get compliments on it. This is an unusual model: 5sp, low spoiler, and cloth upholstery. My sunroof is after market and has been perfect. The only problems have been two O2 sensors and a passenger power window failure. All were fixed quickly at no cost. Hyundai Roadside service has been flawless. Called two times.
Favorite Features
Looks, performance, sound system.
Suggested Improvements
Hatch button on remote.

This car is definately fun to drive. The 6speed manual is a lot of fun, but the clutch is lousy. The first one was worn out at 24000 miles. (Not under warranty and cost $1900.00 to replace. The 2nd clutch went due to the throw-out bearing breaking (67k) again $1900.00. The Michelon Pilots that come with the car are for summer only, useless in the winter. If you want performance, handling, low road noise and great trad-life, try the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Positions. They are unbelieveable. The Continental Conti-Extreme Contacts do last and handle well, but do have a lot of road noise.
Favorite Features
Lots of torque, fun to drive, handles well. 3rd gear is great!! Blows most other cars away in a short race starting at 60mph. Looks great.
Suggested Improvements
Better clutch. Different tires from the factory. Torque steer can be pretty scary. Lose the hydrolic clutch.

I bought this car brand new, and thank goodness it had a warranty! I have had this car in the shop about once every 4-6 months. Practically everything on this car has broken! And the paintjob is supposed to be covered under the warranty, but good luck with that! There is virtually no clear coat on the car, and what is there is chipping off and the paint is wearing off. The dealership will not honor the warranty on the paint, and I got nowhere when I contacted Hyundai corporate! I will never again buy another hyundai. Poor quality car, and even worse customer service!

I really love my Tiburon, it's so fun to drive but I've only had it a year and now the clutch went out and it broke the flywheel. $1700.00 at the dealership!! What I don't understand is why am I being penalized because I own a maual transmission if it was an automatic I would actually reap the benefits of the bumper to bumper warranty! I actually own 2 mine has 57,000 mi. my husbands only has 33,000 his did exactly the same thing. The dealership claims this is a rare problem - bull!!!! Beware if the clutch goes out your in for a big repair bill!!
Favorite Features
Love the looks, the way it handles.
Suggested Improvements
Need to improve clutch assy and the warranty on the clutch!!

The car is great. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a car under 20,000 and is really sporty.
Favorite Features
Leather, sunroof, triptonic, and dual exhaust.
Suggested Improvements
Really nothing much, but if I had to choose probably a more powerful engine.

I have owned this car for over a year now. I bought it used with 42k on the odometer and since have put another 31k on it. This car has never left me stranded - always starts and just goes! I have found that using premuim gas has not only improved my mileage but also improved performance. It may NOT be the fastest coupe or the best handling one either - but from a maintenance point of view - you couldn't GIVE me a GT-V6! Just ask any long term Hyundai mechanic and they'll tell you why. Besides which - the V6's MPG is rated at 16/29 - my 4Cyl is rated at 24/32 - and i REGULARLY clock 27-28 MPG with a high of 33 MPG on one tank! By the way - it is a HOT looker in Dark Blue Clearcoat Metallic!
Favorite Features
I like the shifter, the steering and the killer factory sound system! Add in the Power Sunroof and the Am/Fm/CD/Cassette Combo and you're set to go!
Suggested Improvements
The chassis needs to lose a few pounds! The aftermarket needs to pay attention to the 4-Cylinders too! Not just the V6's!

Tiburon Experience

I first feature I noticed was the beautiful rear end and since I realize that's what you end up looking at the most of the car in front of you while driving, I wanted a car with a gret rear ;-D - Then after the looks of the sheik exterior comes the drive. This car handles the road great taking turns with ease even if your zoomin a bit fast for a curve it just glides along like its attached to a track. The best test so far has been the rain. I drove thru hurricane rain conditions from VA to PA with truckers splashing an added monsoon of water on me & my car only skidded once the whole 7 and half hours of driving.
Favorite Features
Love of course the Rear END! Its beautiful. Besides for that I also love the drivers Seat with lumbar support. The built in Sunglasses holder is also quite handy!
Suggested Improvements
This has probable been addressed, but on my 2003 Tiburon the paint was peeling off of my gas cap.
