Ford F-Series Transmission Problems
Re: 2003 F150 trans problems [krnhskr]
It is your limited slip rear end.... drain out the fluid refill with regular rear end fluid not the Ford type, and add to cans of the Ford limited slip additive. Then drive in reverse in circles going both directions, do this several times, then drive 50 plus miles normally..... fixed mine and has not done it since over two years. was doing it every time I took off and ... Half-ton Pickups - The full field
Living the experience with 3 RAMS
For years we heard how bad dodges were, from chevy and ford people, of course, but the folks we knew that had them didnt seem to have many problems with them. after owning fords for 20 years and the dealer and ford really sticking it to us on a windstar and two of our f150s, we converted every thing except the new holland tractors, from ford to dodge. we have a 2003 RAM ... Ford F-Series Rough Idle/Vibration Issues
Re: F150 Vibration Issue [slugger3]
Did you have "mud, snow or rocks" in your rims? Mud and snow build up can also do this. Our tires had to be re-balanced five times until they did what is called "indexing". This is where they match the heavier weight of the tire (some are always heavier in certain areas of the rubber) with the weight of the rim (same thing) and it wasn't until they did this twice that they ... Re: baby powerstroke f 150 [plumbcrazy]
I have a 2003 F150 and drive 80 miles per day. Current gas prices drive me crazy but I can afford them. With my two horse trailer attached I get just about 10 mpg. I would love to have a diesel avaialbe because of longevity and mileage. I disagree that Ford is holding back because of trade-ins...I trade in my vehicles every 3 years no matter what because I need a reliable ... Read More...
Ford F-Series: Problems & Solutions
Re: Shudder and vibration when turning [pllang]
Had EXACTLY the same issue in my 2003 F-150 at 8,500 miles (vehicle shudder when turning either direction from dead stop, not as severe when going straight). Ford mechanic test-drove it for 5 seconds and precisely identified the problem: Bad limited-slip rear differential clutch. Dealership replaced it at no expense (under warranty) with what they said was ... Read More...
electronics problems when it rains
I have a 2003 Ford F-150 that has been running great. Recently, with the extended rainy season, I have been experiencing electronics problems. I came out one of those rainy mornings and my truck battery was dead. I charged it up and then noticed that even with the key out, my fan blower was running, I was getting a clicking from the ABS, my audio (CD player) was clicking ... Read More...
Ford F-Series Redesign Wishes & Wants
low sulfur
Low sulfur diesel fuel in the United States will be mandatory in mid-2006. Europe made low sulfur mandatory in 2003 and half the new cars sold there are diesel. Can't Ford take this as a omen for things to come? I love the new F-150. But I can't get myself to get a truck that gets 14mpg while it could get 28mpg with a diesel. Read More...
Ford F-Series: Problems & Solutions
Re: 2000 Ford F-150 Big Problem - Need Help [bear54]
Just talked to my Ford Service Mgr. He was unable to hear the popping sound my 2003 F150 FX4 was making. After about a 10 second ride along test drive he was able to hear my problem. Solution... replaced the ball joints, upper and lower control arms with only 42,000 on the truck. Now I finally feel justified for buying the extended warranty. Big $$$ for known problem. ... Re:Mac24 & Wijoco
"That's the problem.............. I don't want to spend $30k+ for a truck that just about manages to pull itself up to 'average'!" Understood:) I don't blame you, though if you are looking for a truck, the only option you have above average is the Tundra, next most reliable after that is the 2WD F-150. I wish there was some way I could post that stuff from CR here, ... Read More...
