Love it!

2002 Ford F-150 4dr SuperCab XLT 4WD Styleside LB (4.6L 8cyl 5M)
Review
I bought this truck used about a year and a half ago. I plan on having it forever. I have had no major problems with it. I was either going to buy this truck or a similar used 2004 (new style) F-150 model, but I really like this style better. It feels/drives more like a truck (the 2004 for felt/drove more like an SUV to me) and also feel it is a stronger, more durable vehicle. If you are looking for a used truck and come across a 2002-2003 F-150, give it a try and you won't be disapointed. This is a truck that you will still see on the road in 10-20 years....something you couldn't say about a Dodge.
Favorite Features
4x4, the view, comfort, long bed, color (true blue), good pick up/power, size, interior space/ext. cab, has an OK stock CD/radio, etc.
Suggested Improvements
Of course I can easily say something about the gas mileage, but I did buy a 5.4L V-8! How can I complain, I know what I was getting into. LOL Not a big fan of the honeycomb grille. Besides that....it's all good!
Still Happy With It

Review
Bought new in November 2002. Generally still like the vehicle and like the styling better than the new F-150 except for the front end. Absolutely love how comfortable the vehicle is front and back, and the quality of the leather seats are very good and easy to maintain. Have had few problems except with the driver's side heated seat and the keyless entry system, both of which were repaired under warranty. The paint quality is excellent and there are still no rattles and squeaks after 4 1/2 years. The dash is starting to look dated now, especially when compared to the new models. Undercarriage has some rust which in my view is premature. Great power with the 5.4, but fuel economy is only OK.
Favorite Features
Comfort of seats, heated seats, electronic climate control, moonroof, rear seat stowage compartments, roominess. Power with 5.4L, Taillights still are the sharpest looking of any truck on the road.
Suggested Improvements
Windshield wipers, better rust proofing on undercarriage. Didn't expect good fuel economy but I only average about 14 mpg/city and 20 mpg/highway.

F150 problems
Vehicle
2002 Ford F-150 4dr SuperCrew XLT 2WD Styleside SB (4.6L 8cyl 4A)
Review
The first 3 years the truck was a good truck. I use the truck for camping and to go a short distance to work. For the past year I have been getting water in the cab on the drivers side. I have tried to find where it is coming in at with no success. This year the ABS has died (the orange idiot light is on and ABS doesn't function). Haven't had time to investigate this yet to determine what the problem is. Three of the four doors are starting to bubble with rust at the base of the doors where the folds are at. The last issue is every so often the service engine soon light comes on. If it wasn't for these issues I would be really happy with the truck.
Favorite Features
It's a great truck for hauling and works great for loading up home improvement supplies. Pretty much handles anything I throw at it.
Suggested Improvements
Design out the complaints I have mentioned in my review. Make the truck more reliable for the money. I was hoping to keep this truck for a long time knowing how much I spent on it.

Gotta Love It
Vehicle
2002 Ford F-150 4dr SuperCab XLT 4WD Styleside SB (4.6L 8cyl 5M)
Review
It has plenty of power, but bad on gas. I get 11-1/2 mpg while towing a 24ft travel trailer. Would love to have a little more torque for towing at 100kph without dropping a gear. Very comfortable and spacious up front.
Favorite Features
Good ride height, smooth gear shifts. Nice interior.

I really loved this truck up until the transmission went out at 38,000 miles. Ford did not cover it and it cost thousands. The truck also has excessive piston slap and it has had its oil changed every 3k or less. I'm in the market for a Dodge now, Ford really needs to work on their quality.
Favorite Features
Looks great and drives nice, I get 19 mpg on the free way and 14 in town.
Suggested Improvements
Quality, a truck should not have the same transmission as the Mustang. Limited slip would have also been nice, I don't remember if they had it as an option when I bought it.

I bought the truck for both business use and pleasure use. It has been a great vehicle in all aspects except that it does drink a lot of gas.
Favorite Features
Very comfortable.
Suggested Improvements
Better mileage.

I've driven Fords primarily for almost 20 years now after a bad experience with GM standing behind a Chevy lemon. I have for the past 10 years owned a pickup (2 Rangers and now the 150). This truck is all that I could hope for except of course for the fuel economy. If the economy doesn't go completely south or gas becomes extinct, this will be the last pickup I'll need. Driving comfort, dependability, durability low maintenance costs, hauling capacities and dealer customer service are all part of the package.
Favorite Features
Ride comfort, color, handling, cruise control, lumbar support, compass with outside temperature gauge, CD player.
Suggested Improvements
Rust proofing especially in the northern climate. Better gas mileage.

I bought this truck brand new and as I say I've had it since it was a baby. It has been a great truck. Of course I have given it it's proper maintenance and has really paid off. I have been a Ford Woman since I was able to be a Ford Girl at 18. I am now in the decision making of color for my new 2007 F250 diesel with that new engine. I believe I need to order it in November for shipment in February. It seem like it will again be a white with tan leather interior.
Favorite Features
I just love all of it. No favoritism here.
Suggested Improvements
Maybe standard bedliner would be nice.
Worst Truck I ever owned

2002 Ford F-150 4dr SuperCrew King Ranch 4WD Styleside SB (4.6L 8cyl 4A)
Review
This has been a very bad purchase since day one. These trucks have a lot of major issues, including coil packs going out left and right every 20 to 35,000 miles, front wheel bearings going out every 25,000 miles, rear differential going out twice in 104,000 miles. This truck is not a heavy tower or abused off road, just very poor craftsmanship.
Favorite Features
Power adjust pedals and heated seats.
Suggested Improvements
Engine, driveline, electronics.

Purchased used 2002 SuperCrew with 35000 miles in 04/06. So far it has performed flawlessly. Gas mileage on the 5.4 is in line with published amount. Very comfortable ride.
Favorite Features
Appearance and ride.
Suggested Improvements
Having owned foreign and domestic cars and trucks, I still consider the quality our American made vehicles somewhat sub par to our Japanese counterparts. We are getting better however.
