I have been a Ford fan and customer for 40+ years.....but that has/is changing. My 2002 F150 Lariat Supercrew with 66,250 miles spit out a spark plug while I was on vacation. I have a 2002 F150 Lariet Supercrew with 66,250 miles. While on vacation a couple of weeks ago it blew a spark plug out of the head. This occured, not while driving, but when the truck was started. 2002 F150 with smaller V8 began to make expensive exhaust noises under the hood at only 35000 miles. Since it was out of warranty I first took it to a muffler chain for their estimate, $600 to replace the manifold which had a visible crack. They said odds were good the other side wasn't far behind. Gary, Just had my 2002, F150 with 60000 miles lose the "Sun Gear" (weld broke) this in turn destroyed the clutches, Torque converter, and Overdrive. All total a bill for $2,100 for a new Transmission. Not sure if this is a common problem with this Trans, Just trying to get some feed back before I write a letter to Ford about it. I have a 2002 F150 with 80K miles. The tie rod on the driver's side snapped off while I was driving. It actually punctured the aluminum wheel! Before this happened there was no sign of wear or play in the steering. I have seen a TSB for this condition from Ford. Has there been any recall activity or warranty extension for this? I have a 2002 F-150 and had some spark plug issues.The heads on this model are aluminum and thin.Ford knows they had a problems with the engine "spitting" plugs.They only grab about 3 threads.Make sure this is not an issue.Usually they can't be fixed without replacing the head. My problems all started on the # 3 cylnder.First with a coil and then the injector went ... Read More...

I had the same thing on my 2002 F350 power stroke. About once a year you have to have the rear spine going into the read end greased. The first time mine was on warrantee, the second time it cost me $120.00. Doesn't that make you fill good that you will have to pay for that every year. How long has Ford been making trucks, never used to have that type of probem on trucks years ... Read More...
