Hyundai Accent Real World MPG

Amazing MPG's

I have no clue what all these other drivers have loaded in there hyundai accent hatchbacks? But I have a 2007 SE that I drive like an old lady on downers. I get 35 and sometimes 37 mpg. Yes you heard me correctly. I have to drive mostly up hill for 105 miles before getting on flat land when I drive back and forth to LA. I also must drive 40 miles up hill coming back and trust ... Re: Why KBB,Edmonds, NADA, Black Book??? [joe97]

You don't even seem to understand the basic premise of purchasing power so I won't even bother going into it at length. Do you actually think owners of a $10K new car care much about purchasing power in the first place? I don't. Many times the money you saved by paying less than the competition upfront would far makeup for the difference later. You seem confused. ... Read More...

Re: Why KBB,Edmonds, NADA, Black Book??? [backy]

Not sure where you are getting your numbers, but they are wrong. According to Edmunds, a 2001 Elantra GLS 5-speed with 45K miles w/ cruise, keyless, and alarm sells at PRIVATE for $4723. Even a 2002 model with the same features and mileage sells at private for $5500. You charged your sister practically dealer retail price...nice guy. The point of my original post ... Read More...

Re: Why KBB,Edmonds, NADA, Black Book??? [backy]

I dinstinctly remember Backy that you "sold" your Elantra. Had you traded it in to a dealership, especially a non-Hyundai one, you would have gotten a fraction of that number. According to Edmunds (far more realistic than KBB), a 2001 Elantra GLS is worth a mere $2957 as a trade-in. Whoever paid nearly 6K for your car seriously got taken. The fact remains that Hyundai's ... Read More...

Re: MOST WANTED " HA" [moparblue2]

They do make the Yaris, which is the replacement for the ECHO, but it still didn't make Edmunds' Most Wanted list, or even the runner-up (that was the Versa). CR also rated the Yaris behind--WAY behind actually--both the Accent and Rio in their recent comparo test. Both Hyundais I have owned, a 2001 and 2004 Elantra, have given dependable service. My sister bought ... Read More...

Hyundai Accent Real World MPG

RE: Hundai Accent: REal World MPG

I own a 2001 Accent, bought in January of 2002. My mileage on it is 40-42 MPG highway and about 38-40 mixed driving. The car's mileage drops markedly in winter to mid thirties. I like passing dead Mercedes' on the side of the road. Car currently has 90,000 miles on it and I have spent close to nothing on repairs. For value, I just don't think you can beat it. I have no problems ... Read More...

2007 Hyundai Accent v 2007 Toyota Yaris Lift

Re: A quote for you... [tjw1308]

Also, with respect to residuals, what do they mean in actual dollar values. For example, I buy an Accent and a Yaris for $14,000, after 5 years what will the value be for each of them, assuming they're in the same condition at 75,000 miles each. For example, I just went to KBB to see the private party selling value for a 2001 Corolla LE with 75,000 miles and it's $7085. ... Read More...

Re: 2007 Hyundai Hatch and 2007 Toyota Yaris Lift [tjw1308]

I see that since you can't make a case for the Yaris, other than it has a very good chance to be reliable and it has excellent fuel economy, you turn back to your same-old attacks on Hyundai in general. How about backing up your arguments with some facts, as I and others have done? Your attempts to extricate yourself from your errors of fact used to be amusing; now they ... Read More...

Re: 2007 Hyundai Hatch and 2007 Toyota Yaris Lift [tjw1308]

Please show me where I described it as anything but more risk? OK, how about this from a few minutes ago: Historically, even as recent as the last 5 years, you'd have far less to "risk" [emphasis mine] if you went with a Yaris. Not sure what buying with cash has to do with this. Since the Accent costs less up front than the Yaris, why should taking out a loan be a problem ... Read More...
