Honda Civic 2005 and earlier

Re: Can someone ID the noises my '05 civic makes? [mike890]

If it only does it when the motor is cold, it could be a cracked exaust manifold. From 2001 to 2005, they are known for that. When the car warms up, the manifold expands and seals the crack and the noise goes away. Hope this helps. The exaust manifold is warranty for 3 years 60k. However, the manifold and cat converter are all one piece and warranty shows the converter ... Read More...

Honda Civic Care and Maintenance

Re: Write A letter To Corporate [sandman46]

Its totally unacceptable for an engine to die at 48K. If Honda doesn't give at least 50% back to you, I'd never shop Honda again. Show them a picture of your nice new Ford or Toyota and be sure to let everyone know what your Honda did for you. As for me, I have a 117K on my 2001 Civic LX and my only problem thus far has been my suspension- about $850 worth of it around 100 K miles. ... Read More...

Honda Civic Hybrid vs Toyota Prius

now that gas is $4/gal, Prius or Civic Hybrid

We are considering a new car to supplant our 2001 Civic EX. It's got 170,000 miles and has had a flukey engine sensor fail twice six months apart, unfortunately both times in the presence of in-laws. They are are Not Happy that their month-old granddaughter is traveling around in that car. I'm 6'5 and have sat briefly in both cars. CIvic seemed to have a smidge more ... Read More...

Honda Civic Hybrid Transmission Problems

Re: 2004 Civic Hybrid tranny [james2245]

I own a 2001 Honda Civic HX. At about 50,000 miles I had the shutter too and I had the start clutch replaced. You don't have to rebuild the entire transmission. I have actually had my start clutch replaced twice. First time was in warranty, second time it wasn't in warranty and ran $700. Read More...

I own a 2001 Hyundai xg300.I bought new.It looks brand new and has only 24,000 miles on it.Having nothing to do one day I stopped in a Honda dealer to look at their cars, and test drove a '06 Civic. Not bad, told salesman just looking. He said when I was ready to deal,to sell my car first they didn't want my XG as a trade in,since it wasn't worth anything,I said fine I'buy ... Re: oh, i forgot [lengalli]

You've never owned a Hyundai, have you? I've owned two--a 2001 Elantra that is now nearly 8 years old, and a 2004 Elantra. The 2001 is owned by my sister now. She loves it and says it still drives and looks like new. And it has been very reliable. My 2004 Elantra also drives and looks new, and the biggest problem it's had in over 4 years is that I had to replace the headlamp ... Read More...

Honda Civic Audio Questions

Re: 2000 Civic radio code - need to reset [matt75035]

Have you registered your Honda yet on the owner-link site? https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/login.asp?brand=honda After I registered, on my car it gave me a link to get my radio code. However, along with the VIN number it did require the serial number from the unit as well. Here's what it says on that: "For certain models, the dealer may have placed a label with ... Read More...

Older Civic Maintenance and Repair

Re: 97 civic not starting [marylong]

Those batteries can be a bummer. This Question isn't pertinent to your problem but couldn't get the question out any other way. Did Honda make the Civic HX after the year model 2000?? I haven't seen any references to a 2001 or later HX so you guru's on Honda products please let all know if they did?? I notice there are several references to 5-speed tranny problems ... Honda Civic GX

Re: Civic GX [jvenglass]

1. Is the cost of upkeep greater on the Civic GX over any other new Civic? Yes, somewhat higher. The fuel filters need to be replaced. THe price is coming down as the service technicians realize that they only need to change the insert and not the entire filter housing. A few hundred dollars every 30,000 miles. 2.Cost of driving? Looking in the catalog I picked up ... Read More...
