We just took our 2008 Accord on a 1080 mile trip. I am the one that has been complaining about the seat back bulge. It is way too annoying to live with. With power seat adjustment, I found one spot that made it somehow tolarable. One flat roads, the Accord did fine. I'm not surprised that you've not had any trannie problems. It was in the years 1999 through and including 2001 that Honda trannie problems surfaced. The reason given by a Honda dealer is that Honda farmed out the transmission manufacturing to a Japanese vendor during the years mentioned above. I just bought a 2001 honda accord ex and the first time you drive it each day it hard shifts from 1st to 2nd. After about 5 minutes its fine and wont do it again until the next day. Is this a transmission issue or maybe it needs the fluid flushed? It has 132k on it. It dirve smooth after the initial 5 minutes. Any thoughts? Read More...

I would beg to differ. If that was the case then the Accord Hybrid would still be around. They don't sell and this is Honda's way is sneaking it in the back door. I could see a BIG SUV or the Mini-Van with this type of VCM technology (I still don't agree with it) because I generally don't see those as "performance or racing type vehicles". Any automatic I have driven, from a 3.8L 2001 Mustang to a Lexus GX470 or an Audi 1.8 Cabriolet (8 miles on it, it had the CVT) have drifted back if on an incline. All my Hondas have as well including my 1996 with 180k miles (which I drove today in fact). No transmission problems. This has nothing to do with a transmission problem. Read More...

I switched to synthetic (Castrol Syntec Full synthetic) at about 20,000 miles in my 2001 Dakota pickup. Mileage went from about 18 to 19mpg. The truck gets driven very little and is on an annual oil change cycle. I feel comfortable letting it go 5,000 miles and twelve months with synthetic. Sitting in the Camry and Accord back-to-back at the car show, I have to totally agree with you with regard to the Accord's dashboard vs. the Camry's. The Accord's dash is both busy and ugly, the Camry's is much better. All of those black buttons in the center of the dash simply do not appear to be well thought-out.
