2001 Dodge Stratus SE 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 4A)
Review
I bought the Stratus barely used and overall it hasn't been a bad car. I have not had a lot of major problems under the hood. However, the air conditioning has been a constant problem since about 60,000 miles. It is repaired and then goes out again soon after. This last time, I took the car to 3 reliable/well known mechanics in the Chicago area who were all unable to determine the cause of the problem. I suppose their could be worse things- as the car runs, but it is very frustrating not to have air constantly. I have come across many others with dodge vehicles who have reported the exact same prob. with ac and have also had difficulty wih getting it repaired.

2001 Dodge Stratus R/T 2dr Coupe (3.0L 6cyl 5M)
Review
Everything about this car is Mitsubishi except the frame and paint. What screwed up? The paint. I caution those considering one of these that is black. This car is a 2001, and by 2004 the paint was burning off in the sun, and I live in a temperate climate zone. The ride is like the v6 Eclipse, fast, smooth, and comfortable. The car is very fun to drive and has held up great for 88k miles thus far. Uses expensive tires and likes to eat them, but if you drive conservatively this shouldn't be too much of a problem. And, for a sports car, this car gets pretty good fuel economy. I gauged it at 26mpg using 93 octane gasoline. I love this car and will hate to get rid of it. Poor warranty
Favorite Features
Sleek design, super smooth ride, very comfortable, fast, decent gas mileage.
Suggested Improvements
Dodge needs to give its cars better paint jobs and a better warranties. As for Mitsubishi well done.

2001 Dodge Stratus R/T 2dr Coupe (3.0L 6cyl 5M)
Review
Yes that's correct, I think I love my car a little too much. I don't know what I like best about my Stratus R/T but a few of my favorite things are the handling, the ability to accelerate in traffic, the feeling of being "attatched" to the road via the low profile tires and stiff suspension, the leather seats and the stock "Infinity" 4 disc changer. Love the looks of the car and the way I've seen people stop and take a gander at it. What can I say, I'm in love.
Favorite Features
The remote locks/trunk, the moonroof, the way even after 5 years of life it still smells and looks new, the dash display and color scheme, the child anchor straps, the larger than expected trunk...someone stop me:)
Suggested Improvements
Make replacement parts a little less expensive(one alternator = $350+ just for the part, yikes!) And I'm having a little trouble with the windows not sealing tight, no biggie.

Very frusturating car to own. I've experienced steering and electrical problems from day one. Blower fan not working on all speeds, radio turning on/off by itself, rear defroster problems. Had to replace the rack and pinion at 42,000 miles. Transmission pan to low to ground making it easy to bottom out resulting in leaks.
Favorite Features
Good acceleration with V6 engine. Premium sound 4 disc changer is nice
Suggested Improvements
Overall build quality has to improve before I buy another Dodge. Leather seats feel more like vinyl.

I Bought my 2001 Stratus SE Coupe last year at 100,000 miles for $7,000. It runs still to this day with no problems. Sure there are oil changes every 3,000 miles, but nothing else! Runs beautiful still to this day, and now has 203,000 miles Wow!
Favorite Features
Nice acceleration. Parts cheap to buy if needed. Everything!

Great Car
Vehicle
2001 Dodge Stratus SE 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 4A)
Review
I bought my Stratus SE 4cy a little over a month ago, and so far I'm very pleased. I'm getting about 28mpg, and thats with mixed driving from highway and city. The only things I have had troubles with so far is about a week after I bought the car, the engine light came on and they cant find the problem. The car still runs great.
Favorite Features
Fuel mileage, comfort, stlye. Stereo sounds great.
Suggested Improvements
It's a 2001 and there are already signs of rust along the edges of the doors and hood.

2001 Dodge Stratus SE 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 4A)
Review
This has been a fine car in nearly all respects. The only gripes I have is the difficulty of replacing the air filter and the battery. Otherwise, the car has everything I want: looks, performance, handling, comfort and economy. I have the 2.7 V-6. Maintenance costs have been minimal and I have 77,400 miles on it. I've been looking at other cars, but I guess I'll just wait until they come out with the re-styled Stratus and Sebring sedans.
Favorite Features
Good styling, driving comfort, fuel economy, handling and ride.
Suggested Improvements
Relocate the battery to the engine compartment or trunk. Under the fender is a poor spot. Make it easier to replace the air filter.

This car is by far the best sports car I've driven. With 200hp and 205lb torque, you can't go wrong. Taking off each time is like cake walk. Put the car in 3rd gear, and at 1500rpm, it takes off easy! Again the torque is amazing. The tires are very sticky. Suspension is perfect. I recommend the 5 speed manual trans. The inside is like a cockpit of a plane. It's also very low to the ground, but that's the whole point. This car's power band is 100% perfect as well, as there is no lag whatsoever. Overall, it's worth it if you like to go fast. It's not as small as a Honda Civic, but it kicks the crap out of it! I recommend that you buy this car!
Favorite Features
Everything. Especially the wide power band. It's not like any sports car iv'e driven before. Response is also amazing, around corners especially. City gas mileage is pretty good, depending on how you drive. Highway gas mileage is outstanding, roughly 30+mpg! It's revs real low at high speeds.
Suggested Improvements
I just got it a couple weeks ago, and so far so good. For anyone looking for even more power, get the RIPP Tuners Kit/Stage 1 kit for an extra 100hp. Driving on gravel is a little slippery being that the car has wide tires. That's the only thing I can think of.

Engine Blown
Vehicle
2001 Dodge Stratus ES 4dr Sedan (2.7L 6cyl 4A)
Review
Engine problems and more engine problems. At first it seemed great but at 55-56K it started to decline. I serviced every 3K and all regular maintenance. At around 90K, I needed my main gasket replaced. Then last week I was informed my engine was shot. Also, had some electrical problems with my windows and especially my radio/CD player. I purchased new with every upgrade, even smokers package (I later learned, even though I have never smoked for xtra $20). Car still looks great, interior & exterior still looks new. This is the second Dodge that this has happened, I owned a Jeep before this and I was to dumb to learn. Never again! I am buying a Toyota! Do your homework, don't buy Dodge
Favorite Features
Interior and exterior styling. Never used the autostick, but it did seem fun the 5 or 6 times I played around with it.
Suggested Improvements
R&D! Do some research and fix these problems before you unleash them on us. Engine was very unreliable. Upgraded stereo sounded good before electrical problems.

Dodges = Fun to Look at... Bad to Own
Vehicle
2001 Dodge Stratus ES 4dr Sedan (2.7L 6cyl 4A)
Review
Love Dodge styling overall and have owned several Dodges over the years. Had a 6cyl 2001 Stratus ES for almost a year but experienced constant overheating problem, steering problems, and ball joint replacements. This was a "certified" used car from a Dodge dealership. Had a 98 ES also with almost no problems in aver 75K miles but this one was a bust. Also had two Caravans which experienced ATX problems and various brake and lesser interior fit and finish issues... going to Toyota and Honda... mmmm...but must resist Dodge nice styling and innovative features (Charger/Magnum/300...etc)
Favorite Features
Looks, performance, safety, price used is very good... but you get what you pay for...
