Chevy Express/GMC Savana Owners: Meet the Members

Re: Meet the Members - Brian from AZ [vanowneraz]

Larry, I just traded in my 2001 Express for less than $6000 so your conversion van being 2 years newer than mine may be worth between $8900 and $9900 depending on other options installed and interior quality. I am now a new owner of a 2007 Chevy Express 3500 15 passenger van with a smaller 6.0 liter V8 engine hoping to save a few miles of gas. Anyone else have a 2006/2007 ... Read More...

Re: hi mile express [eandlcubed]

In 2004 I purchased a 2001 Chevy express 3500 with 74000 miles from Enterprise. It has 14 bucket seats. I'm very happy with it. Drove it to upstate N Y and back from Los Angeles with no problems. I did have to repair a rear axle seal leak recently. It will cruise all day long at 80 mph with 10 people. It can get up to 15 mpg on the road. I like it. When I bought it I believe the ... Meet the Members - Brian from AZ

Hello, I am Brian from Arizona, US. I own a 2001 Chevy Express 3500 extended passenger van. Original seating was 8 passengers but have added a 4th bench to make it 12 passenger. The van has the 8.1 lt Vortec engine which to my knowledge this engine size was discontinued in the vans after 2001. Anyone else out there? Glad to introduce myself, please follow and introduce ... Chevy Express/GMC Savana: Brakes

Rear brake "thud"

I have a 2001 Chevrolet Express 1500 LT van with 90,000 miles. I like the van, however, when I release the brakes, there is a "thud" in the rear brakes. Two different mechanics have looked at them, replaced the pads, adjusted them, but cannot eliminate this annoying noise. They tell me that there is nothing they can do to stop it. Are you all experiencing the same ... Read More...

Re: Chevy Express brake light problem [jcintc]

I have a 2001 Express also Having the same problem, confirmed myself that the socket are bad, the actual problem with the sockets are the way "they" attach or make contact with he ground wire to the socket. Its a pressure fit and my guess is dissimular metals. Add moisture to the picture and you get corrosion. I replaced both sockets to correct this problem. Using ... Read More...

Chevy Express/GMC Savana: Accessories & Modifications

Re: adding seats to Express or Savana van [fuld]

I got my seat and After-market belts from the same shop. I only had the choice to buy after market belts for the 2001 Express. I am sounding like a broken record but the retractor part of the belt is not for my year and I either have to go to a salvage yard to get a part of a later year Express to mount the retractor of the belt or go buy some OEM belts from a Chevy/GMC dealer. ... Chevy Express: Warranty Issues

Chevy Express 2001 Van -- What was the Powertrain Warranty?

Dear Express folks, I need some help. My 2001 Express 3500 van's transmission crapped out at only 53,000 miles -- a forward pump disintegrated and went through the entire Xmssion. I have to buy a new one, $3K, for a van worth $9K per the Edmunds ratings! I vaguely recall the powertrain warranty covering the transmission. Unfortunately, it seems THAT is the only ... Re: 2001 Chevy Express turning off DRLs??? [taomanays]

Daylight Running Lights (DRL) Some domestics and all Canadian models are quiped with Daytime Running Lihts (DRL) . The DRL system illuminates the head lights whenever the engine isrunning and the parking break is disengaged. The DRL system provides reduced power to the headlights so that they wont be to bright for daytime use and it prolognes the headlight ... Read More...

2001 Chevy Express turning off DRLs???

I have a 2001 Chevy Express Van, and I've been trying to figure out how to turn off these dreaded Daytime running lights. I camp in my van a lot, and have a power inverter inside, so sometimes I want to run the engine not to drain the battery, but then my lights come on. Not cool. Anyway have any suggestions? Thanks! -- Ashton Read More...
