I just changed my battery and was having similar problems. I took it into the shop today and they informed me that after replacing the battery, I have to start the truck, hold the brake, put the truck in drive and rev the engine to 2000 rpm for 2 minutes. I agree with you I have a 2000 GMC Sierra the transfer case just emptied out. Not sure what the issue is. If it's cracked I'm gonna be bull----. If it's the seals I can deal with it. I had no warning at all the fluid just dumped out of the tranfer case when I parked it. I had it put up on the wrecker with the rear facing the pavement and it completly dumped out.... Read More...

same problem 2000 gmc sierra. what a lemon. My symptoms started with erratic fuel readings. I then noticed a dramatic fuel consumption change. I replace fuel filter but no change. My truck seemed to run fine until a couple of months went by. No start after engine warm mysteriously troubled me from time to time. I couldn't put any correlation to any other symptoms ... I own a 2000 GMC Sierra 2500 ext. Cab. I have had the same problem with drivetrain vibration. Have been trying to diagnos for past year. Changed all U-Joints but did not fix problem. My mechanic sent out to a Transmission Repair Facility, and they found that the converter on my trany was pulling apart which was causing the vibration exactly as you described. They ... Same problem on my 2000 Gmc Sierra, Have used JB weld in 3 different spots already to control leaks, after close inspection of back cover which is made of magneesium, I feel they had a casting problem and the case has been casted to thin in some areas, probably a way to save money. I sure would like to find a way for gm to recall this problem it seems to very big.. any suggestions?? Read More...

I need you to perform a test on your trucks. Very simple. When your gas gauge is reading between 1/4 and 3/4 level, and you are driving at any speed between 10 and 45 MPH, shift the automatic tranny to neutral, apply the brakes normally, and observe the fuel gauge. I kinda wish I had traded my 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 Ext 4x4 SLT, for a 2000 GMC Sierra 2500 CC SB 4x4, 6.5L, SLT, loaded. The sad part is that this truck invoices less than 32000, and they had a few thousand incentives on them. Could have been had for less than $30,000.
