All beauty and nothing else
Vehicle
1999 Cadillac DeVille 4 Dr STD Sedan
Review
There is no doubt this car is beautiful, comfortable and can blow the doors of most other cars, but it is the most unreliable car I have ever owned. The eternal "service Engine Soon" light is annoying. It constantly needs sensors and things to be replaced only to have engine light come back on in a month or 2. I also don't understand how a modern car today can burn up so much oil. What does it do with it? It also is absoultly terrible for winter driving. Step on the brakes on a snow covered road and it turns sideways every time. The traction control on a FWD is useless. Trading in for an 05 Grand Marquis. Had a 94 Town Car previously never had any major problems in 6 yrs.
Favorite Features
Taillights! Very fast, great gas mileage, digital dash, comfy
Suggested Improvements
It should have been a rear wheel drive! That would make it more stable on the road especilly in winter, and less expesive to repair. Has some major quality issues.

My Caddy
Vehicle
1999 Cadillac DeVille 4 Dr STD Sedan
Review
I bought the Std version. I got fed up because the dealer either made a mistake or scammed me telling me it's a Concours (not an official GM/Cadillac dealer), but a Caddy is a Caddy and it is a dream.I bought it for $6900 CANADIAN (at the time i bought it it was worth 10,000 US). On my first drive from the dealership I had to go on the hectic and jammed 401 on a snowy november night, and it felt like I was driving in my neibourhood on a sunny day in may. I was amazed by the performance. I mainly drive on highways and at one time it gave me 28 miles to the gallon, that's pretty impressive for a 4-ton Cadillac running on a 4 and a half liter Northstar engine.
Favorite Features
the dimming mirror, the styling, the seats, the power
Suggested Improvements
the standard model lacks too many features, (nobody will mind to pay a few hundred dollars more for a standard CD player) the dasboard is a bit too plain on the STD and D'E, and give the concours a chrome grille instead of a black one (it my opinion a black grille doesnt suit a cadillac)

All was well, when it rained, it poured

Got the car as a gift from my parents, so mind you, you don't look a free car in the mouth. For a year and a half, it was reliable as an anvil. Went about its daily routine quietly and stately. Excellent highway vehicle and without air-conditioning on at a constant 65 miles per hour, the car got 27 mpg consistently. Comfortable seats, lots of leg room. Northstar V- 8 was the strong, silent type and I got used to it consuming about a quart of oil every 1000 miles; pretty much all northstars do the same. Then 2 weeks ago, all hell broke loose. Had to replace the entire air-conditioning system and alternator went 5 days apart, ouch! Traded it for a Honda. RIP Caddy!
Favorite Features
Highway ride, heated seats, legroom.
Suggested Improvements
Improved reliability.

This car is junk
Vehicle
1999 Cadillac DeVille 4 Dr STD Sedan
Review
This car has been nothing but problems. Odometer now reads 94K. Replaced AC system, radiator, thermostat, hoses, coolant reservoir. The fan for the heat and A/C has a mind of its own and usually decides not to operate. The driver's seat cushioning and leather surface has failed, needed complete seat re-conditioning. One quart of oil every 1000 miles. GM should be embarassed about the quality of fit and finsih on the car interior. The carraige roof rattles above 65 mph. The antenna motor has failed. Must carry replacement bulbs. I strongly advise anyone considering this car to proceed with caution. There is nothing about this car that would encourage me to consider purchasing a General Motors car ever again.

Quality is more than a slogan. There should be little wonder how or why GM has been surpassed by others in the automobile industry.

4 Year '99 DeVille Owner
Vehicle

Review
The high pressure power steering hose began to leak at ~77,000 miles. Also, the plastic dash top vent is warping due to heat damage from the sun. This has been a great all weather Colorado car. Each time (four to my recollection) I was pulled over for a driving infraction the officer had issued only warnings...never a ticket! All of the gadgets work perfectly. My wife complained that she slid about in the passenger seat. Also, I ran out of gas twice because the digital gas gauge begins to accelerate usage feedback the closer it gets from two gallons left in the tank.
Favorite Features
The power, comfort, and safety.

99 Deville

In my opinion the 1999 DeVille is one of the best Cadillacs ever made. The comfort of its ride is surpassed by none. It has plenty of horsepower to float down the highway. The interior is full of gadgets and comfort. Need I say more?

Three years of Joy
Vehicle
1999 Cadillac DeVille 4 Dr STD Sedan
Review
I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed this car. I'm six feet tall and long waisted so the head room was one of the great features. The ease of driving and ride are also very good. It is the only car that I am comfortable in on a trip. I've had three back operations and still can sit with ease when I drive. I get 26 mpg highway miles and 16 in the city. My wife's 2005 PT Cruser does't get that.
Favorite Features
The room, trunk space, comfort, body style, and ease of driving.
Suggested Improvements
The fender trim is the only thing I can think of that needs help. The stupid strip of plastic keeps coming off is tacky and not Cadillac grade.

Luv my Caddy
Vehicle
1999 Cadillac DeVille 4 Dr D'elegance Sedan
Review
I needed a car with some good comforts for traveling as I drive long distance about 8 hours a day, 3 times a week. I had been driving other cars and noticed how stiff I was after getting out of the car. When I first got my Cadillac I noticed that my back no longer hurt. Oh what a relief, that alone was well worth me getting this car. I am looking forward to my next Cadillac.
Favorite Features
I love how it handles and looks. It sure picks up speed great when you need to pass. The gas mileage I get on long trips is great...up to 28 MPG. It's better than some of the smaller cars.

Our '99 DeVille
Vehicle
1999 Cadillac DeVille 4 Dr STD Sedan
Review
Driving the Cadillac DeVille is great. We took it to Tennessee in Dec. '05 and I couldn't be happier with it. It has plenty of room, is quiet and has an awesome engine! For a heavy car it really runs. I like how the power takes you over hills with the cruise on and only slows down a mph or so. Its fuel mileage was right at 26 mpg, now that's good. My only complaint really is mine has no OnStar, and the stereo isn't luxury car material in my opinion.
Favorite Features
I really like the digital readout on everything. The leather seats are really comfortable and they adjust to plenty of positions. Northstar, what an engine. It has a bit of funf actor for a car this size, and 26 mpg highway / 21mpg city is really nice too.
Suggested Improvements
None that I can think of except the stereo system. OnStar as standard equipment would be nice too. I knew it didn't have it when I bought it, but it was a good deal so we sacrificed.

Used Concours
Vehicle
1999 Cadillac DeVille 4 Dr Concours Sedan
Review
I bought my 1999 Cadillac DeVille Concours in Reno, Nevada. It was a trust car before being traded in. It had 77,000 miles and now has 120,000. I have not had no problems except with a constant SES sign but the Cadillac forum tells me don't worry about it. It is a comfortable ride and a pleasure to drive on long trips. The only problem I will fix in the future is the oil leak that according to the Cadillac forum most Northstar engines have. I have changed the oil regularly, but have experienced no other real problems that have hindered my enjoyment of this vehicle.
Favorite Features
I love the electric seats and back roller, Stabilitrac system, legroom, and comfort of driving without giving up power. I am 6'1" (214) and it is good for me.
Suggested Improvements
A radar detector built in or a place to put the device. Underdash lights when entering and during driving if needed.
