It is the CADILLAC of cars
Vehicle
1998 Cadillac DeVille 4 Dr STD Sedan
Review
This is my first Cadillac. I have owned two Lincolns, an Oldsmobile 98, and a Chrysler "New Yorker." None of the other cars came close to the DeVille. I can set the cruise control on 80, and drive all day getting 24 miles per gallon. On a two lane highway, I can step on the gas and the 4.7 liter "NorthStar" engine accelerates like a sports car, making passing safe and quick. Its comfort is great! I'm 66 years old and can drive all day and feel fine. Its handling is REALLY great for such a large car. Maintenance is minimal. I have had to replace one headlight. It is no wonder people use the word "Cadillac" to describe top shelf products of all types.
Favorite Features
Number one: The ride/comfort. Number two: The power. Number three: The reliability. Number four: The fuel economy/range.
Suggested Improvements
Install a sound system "mute" button on the steering wheel.

Please Sir, May I have another?
Vehicle
1998 Cadillac DeVille 4 Dr D'elegance Sedan
Review
This is my third Cadillac, my second D'Elegance. My first was an 1985 Eldorado. This one, while excellent to own, has been a little disappointing on gas mileage. My '97 D'Elegance averaged 30 MPH on the highway and this one is lucky to get 27. All in all, I'm pleased and wouldn't hesitate to trust the brand.
Favorite Features
It seems silly, but the rain senwor whippers still amuse me. I love the smooth ride that glides over the road.
Suggested Improvements
Upgrade all models with the Bose system.

Comfort and Reliability
Vehicle
1998 Cadillac DeVille 4 Dr STD Sedan
Review
From the moment you step on the gas its smooth all the way, all road conditions, weather and terrain. The only faults are excessive oil consumption, 2 quarts between changes, and while the breaks catch, the car drags the tires along. Once you learn about these and are prepared for them the smoothness and reliability almost makes up for it.
Favorite Features
Power - Northstar engine
Suggested Improvements
Fix the oil consumption problem.

Comfort and reliability - Great Package
Vehicle
1998 Cadillac DeVille 4 Dr STD Sedan
Review
This family car provides great comfort. Have driven this car all over the country and it zooms along Texas roads getting at 26 miles per gallon and climbs West VA hills with ease. I'm faithful to oil changes, tire rotation and pressure. Bought the car with 17,000 miles (save the showroom price for folks who don't care what they pay). Will definitely consider buying Cadillac again if this one slows down! A/C needed major fix in first few months but my warranty covered everything except $50 deductible.
Favorite Features
Front seat comfort, tons of storage room in trunk, and quiet inside car when driving.
Suggested Improvements
A/C could be better in back seats. Buy a warranty that your dealer will honor - very costly to repair this car and my warranties have more than paid for themselves.

My 2nd DeVille
Vehicle
1998 Cadillac DeVille 4 Dr D'elegance Sedan
Review
I bought this DeVille with 137,000 miles on the odometer. I can attest that I am loving this car. It had great care, and still does. I get great mileage of upwards of 34 mpg @ 67 mph. Who else can do that with 275hp and 4,000lbs? It is roomy and elegant, yet I can get up and go when needed. I am looking forward to my 3rd Cadillac someday.
Favorite Features
Heated, memory and almost infinately adjustable seats. Large truck and spacious interior. Quiet ride, and best of all it's a Cadillac!
Suggested Improvements
No more Premium Only Fuel please. Other than that, there isn't much else to improve upon.

My dream car
Vehicle
1998 Cadillac DeVille 4 Dr D'elegance Sedan
Review
When I retired I bought my dream car, 1998 Cadillac DeVille. What a nightmare it has turned out to be. I aquired the car with 43,000 miles on it. At 47,900 miles I replaced the battery for $133.76 and a battery cable for $129.38 parts and $272.00 labor. At 49,600 miles I replaced the spark plugs for $84.40 parts and $205.49 labor as well as the AC compressor for $669.30 parts and $401.49 labor. At 61,000 miles I replaced the HVAC blower motor for $348.60 parts and $81.48 labor. This labor cost was low since I refused to use a Cadillac dealer. Cadillac OEM parts costs and Cadillac dealer labor cost are extremely expensive. I will be selling my dream car since I refuse to be victimized anymore.
Favorite Features
It is difficult to have any favorite features since the reliabilty is non-existent and the repair costs are excessive.
Suggested Improvements
Cadillac has to get their repair parts pricing into the realm of reality.

The perfect family car
Vehicle
1998 Cadillac DeVille 4 Dr STD Sedan
Review
I wanted a family car with a powerful engine. I had already done the SUV thing and was not about to drive a minivan. Well, after owning my 1998 Cadillac DeVille for 6 and 1/2 years I still love it. I did add a Chevrolet Corvette to the garage though, just for a little more fun! The Cadillac is super and I highly recommend it. The car still looks and runs like it came off the showroom floor!
Favorite Features
Electronic display and the placement of the contols.
Suggested Improvements
A more powerful rear seat air conditioning system.
Great during warranty period

Review
My 1998 Cadillac DeVille has a powerful motor and a quiet, comfortable ride. It provided great performance and reliabillity during the 3yr/36,000 mile warranty period. Mechanically it seems to fall on it's face after that. This vehicle received fantastic new car ratings, but seems to lose it's resale value rapidly, now we know why. If you want long term reliabillity, buy a Honda.
Favorite Features
The powerful motor and comfy seating for FOUR.
Suggested Improvements
GM needs to hire engineers from Honda or Toyota. These cars should be trouble free for 200,000 miles. Come on USA, get on the ball.

What a Sweet Ride
Vehicle
1998 Cadillac DeVille 4 Dr Concours Sedan
Review
This car is a the best car I have ever owned. The interior is quality and the back seat doesn't have adults kicking at my back. The Northstar has quite a bit of power and the suspension is nice a cushy. The best car for a highway drive. What else do I have to say, I'm now a Caddy man forever.

1998 Cadillac Deville
Vehicle
1998 Cadillac DeVille 4 Dr STD Sedan
Review
This is a wonderful car and very solid. It is unlike many of the newer cars and the light bodies. This is a car you sit in and feel like you are sitting at home in your living room. Lots of get up and go and a general nice feeling, easy to handle car. This is a great automobile. The more miles you put on it, the better it seems to drive and ride.
Favorite Features
One of my favorite things about the cadillace deville 1998 is the way it rides on the highway. It is so smooth and comfortable. I also like the pick up it has on 2 lane highways, and of course the leather seats are great too.
Suggested Improvements
I am not fond of the cruise controll mechanisms. They are hard to find and handle in the dark.
