I have a 1996 infinity I30. When I accelerate the engine feels like it hesitates and I hear a bit of a backfire. At idle, it feels rough. Once I get up to speed, it runs great. I have a 116,000 on it. Can anyone steer me in the right direction as far as what I need to start looking at? The check engine is not on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Believe it or not, I had, until just 1 month ago, 1996 Infinity I30 with 150,000 miles on it but I never took the car in for service to dealer. Only things I did was regualar maintenance and spark plug change at 100,000 miles. Only things that went bad were knock sensor and O2 sensor. I even had original rotor in it. 1996 I30 Stalls

My 1996 I30 stalls in traffic or at a stop light when idle. It also stalls at night when I try to start up the car. The RPM needle would just bottom out. Usually when it stalls it's already at the normal temp and my RPM needle would be around 550 or 600 and stall when it hits 500 RPM. HI, I have a 1996 Infiniti I30, I have been having problems with my Infiniti. I got some bad gas and I have since put 93 grade in and a gas treatment and moisture treatment, I have had my fuel injectors cleaned and a new battery. Hi lyn1, I didn't find the answer. But I have few observations, It is stopping when I am driving at low speeds especially in traffic or when I was stopping for a stop sign. I've had the same problem in the summer time. Always shuts off after a while of driving and you stop. all lights show up. i took it to local mechanics, they couldn't find anything wrong. finally took it to dealer, it was the mas air flow sensor. never had the same problem after it was fixed. i fix it with the dealer because they had to mess around with the computer. sounded ... I have 119000 miles on my Infiniti I30. The problem I have is the car engine completely dies :sick: at lower speed or when I stop in traffic or light.
