Reliable Honda - not the best design
Vehicle
1992 Honda Civic 4 Dr EX Sedan
Review
What can I say? We are a Honda family. We have found them to be very reliable, and this was no exception. Over the course of two years that I drove the car (inherited it from my wife) we spent an average of $62 per month, including all oil changes and servicing. Not bad when you consider what a normal car payment would be. The reliability of the engine is great, the starter on these is bad. They will often times not start on particularly hot and humid days. But give it five minutes and it will turn right over. A problem with the main relay on the starter. Also, I never liked the side mounted door handles, and the cup holders are a false sense of security - you'd be better off not using them.
Favorite Features
Honda reliability. A style that did not age much when I sold it at 14 years old. Great engine performance.
Suggested Improvements
They no longer have the odd door handles, and cup holders have been improved on newer models. If you get this car, try to get the main relay replaced and you'll be fine. Sold it at $164,000 miles only because I hate the stick shift and odd design.
On it goes!

Review
I bought this car for $350.00 with 191,000 miles. It has hail damage, some rust, and, as the seller's ad said, is not much to look at. BUT. It runs very well, gets amazing gas mileage (42 highway), and has been totally reliable to date. Performance- wise it is nothing to write home about- -as Rolls used to say when asked how many horsepower their cars have, they would reply "Adequate." So it is with the Civic. The interior has aged fairly well, though the body less so. And everything still works! All in all, a solid little commuter car that is as close to free to drive as you can get.

Obviously, the gas mileage is astounding. This car has been driven hard constantly, and it's never given me a problem. Everything about driving it is reassuring, including clutch/shifter/sterring/suspension. Great car at 130k miles, hoping for another 100k

Most Reliable Car I ever had
Vehicle
1992 Honda Civic 4 Dr LX Sedan
Review
I bought it used with over 100k on it now it has 208k and still going sold rock. If you do not look at the odometer you would think it has below 50k. Never let me down. No mechanical problems just change the oil every 3k and put gas.
Favorite Features
Excellent handling, even in snow. Great on gas.
Suggested Improvements
Better standard tires to match the car handling.

Small yet big on the inside
Vehicle
1992 Honda Civic 2 Dr VX Hatchback
Review
Overall a great car. Small yet roomy on the inside. Superb car on the gas! Small engine but w/ 5-speed was able to keep up w/ "big guys". I ended my Honda experience being crushed by a tractor-trailer at the stop sign - I am alive but I cannot imagine surviving a real crush
Favorite Features
Quick pick up, great gas saver,
Suggested Improvements
No power and absolutely no pick up over 70 mph especially w/ AC on. All joints are fragile, I had to replace shocks and all twice in 4 years, police magnet due to fast and furious film fiasco, doesn't do well in accidents w/ semi's, make sure to replace all belts as schedule or repairs will cost you

Excellent car
Vehicle
1992 Honda Civic 4 Dr DX Sedan
Review
The car is built very well and will last for a very long time if not driven like a race car and oil changed as scheduled. I have 177K on mine right now and can't imagine it not making it to 250-300K. It runs great and it's the most dependable car I've ever had.
Favorite Features
Inside has a lot of room.
Suggested Improvements
None. It's 2006 now and there has been great improvement made to the new models.
Finally, a place to praise her!

Purchasing her was a nightmare, but owning her is a dream. This car has seen: 5 roundtrip treks from Chicago to L.A., plowed through 2 ft deep snow (clearing a path for a Blazer for 4 miles), ran into the side of a mountain (friend borrowed her), carried everything I owned as a bachelor, beats camaros through intersections (then loses a block later, lol), looks great, runs better, and is still ready for more. I realize no one will probably see this because of the year, but she is worth the effort to type a few words of praise. I will look back on the time i owned her, and smile. I will always compare future cars to her. My children will drive Civic HB's as their startup cars if I can convince them.

600 hp engine to fit under the hood, and keep the same fuel economy. Keep up the great work so my kids can enjoy one too, someday.

My 2nd VX and better than the 1st !!!
Vehicle
1992 Honda Civic 2 Dr VX Hatchback
Review
I owned my 1st VX for 10 years - see my 5/2002 review in this section. I was very sad when I sold it but I did because it started to rust badly in several areas. While looking at the bargain section of the car classifieds of the Detroit newspaper I found another 92 VX! for only $1500! What's great about this one? NO SERIOUS RUST!! Three years later????? Anyway the new one (14 years young next month) is really fantastic. It has only 128,000 miles, doesn't leak/burn/use oil, the engine runs like new and the interior is in better shape than my 1st VX - seats and carpeting are mint. Still has the same advantages and disadvantages as the old one but if I could find another 92 I'd buy it!!
Favorite Features
Reliability - nothing ever fails as long as regular maintenance is done.
Suggested Improvements
Too late for that but it would be great if Honda could bring back the 1.5 or 1.3L lean burn engines and get 50 to 60 MPG. The 80's 90's CRX's were great gas sippers too and fun to drive also!

Hondas are an excellent car. They are very reiliable and run forever with normal little maintance, like the pink bunny. 247,000 mostly highway miles and still going extremely strong. Purchased with 105,000 miles in 1996. Good leg and head room. Great resale value.
