Older Civic Maintenance and Repair

Re: honda civic 1.5 lsi [damo1]

I am having a similar problem. I have a 1991 civic (manual transmission) and my top speed is 70 mph, but this only happens when the check engine light is on, which happens to be almost all the time (I should mention that if the check engine light does not come on the car drives perfectly fine). The computer reads out the code for the fuel injectors, but that doesn't actually ... Read More...

Re: Question about 2006 Civic GX Wheel Sizes [99civiccng]

What are the full specs on the tire/wheel sizes of the two vehicles? For example, my 1991 Dodge came with 195/70-14 tires, but an alternate size listed on the door sticker was 205/60-15 (which of course required new 15 inch wheels). These two tires have the same outside diameter so the speedometer and odometer would read the same. 195/70-14 OD in inches = (195 mm)(1 ... Read More...

Honda Civic vs Mazda3

Re: Interesting.... [aviboy97]

My point was that Honda over estimated its mpg. I always thought 30/40 was a bit far fetched. I really do not believe everyone who was saying that they were getting 35-40+ mpg.The new EPA adjusted estimates are more in line with what the car really does. Still, the 2.0L Mazda get fuel economy right on par with Honda's 1.8L while producing more power. Granted, its ... Read More...

Honda Civic vs Volkswagen Jetta

Re: I'm imagining one thing [erickpl]

I can almost see not wanting to be in that kind of car again after such a bad wreck, and I can't help but wonder if I'd feel the same way. Although, if she were hit and hurt like that in a VW, I wonder if she'd be looking at a Honda? It sounds more mental than practical (although VWs are very safe, heavy cars) that she would want a different kind of car. In 1995, my grandmother ... Read More...

1988 Honda Civic 4dr sedan computer questions

1988 Honda Civic 4dr sedan computer questions Folks, I posted this to other boards in CIVIC with no replies. Hopefully, this board will get one: I just spent over 780.00 on trying to get my check engine light to go out on my subj Civic. The final answer is "you have a bad computer" and to replace will cost 980.00. Well, if they ran diagnostics on it in the first place ... Read More...

Differences between 2006 & 2007 Hybrid

Are there any appreciable differences between the 2006 and 2007 Hybrids? I have the opportunity to buy my local Honda dealer's last 2006 model at a very attractive price but I have very little info on the 2007 version to make a comparative decision. As way of introduction, since I've just joined the group, I currently own two Civics –2001 and 2004 but I've owned ... Read More...

Re: Is EX worth extra money over LX? [targettuning]

This my first Honda too. I'm not satisfy with everything on my vehicle. I read auto magazine and online. It seem everyone satisfy the quality of the vehicle. Remember, we are in a special breed of owner. This is a new look of the vehicle. I assume problems would come into this situation. I don't think Honda, Toyota, etc.. going to be perfect. I'm worry more, when I ... Read More...

Honda Civic: Problems & Solutions

Re: 1991 Honda Civic Main Relay? [djstreet]

Dude, Check up under your dash under the Steering Wheel for a kind of thick wire connection. This is your main ignition hot wire and if it is loose like mine was, it will cause your car to intermittently start or not start. It baffled me for months until I found it one day by chance. I kept thinking my battery was low on water which it was from going over too many mountanious ... Read More...
