2008 Honda Accord VCM

Re: Reply from Honda [parviz]

Feel free to browse the Odyssey board or any other Honda board on here. There you will read about other "non-VCM' issues that have been returned to the dealer only to get the standard line "I can't find anything wrong". That added with my own experience backs up what I said. Having had 4 Accords and 1 Civic starting back in 1991 gives me alot of experience with Honda, ... Read More...

Re: 2006 Hyundai Sonata [aviboy97]

Honda and Toyota are two of the best proven vehicles on the road, no question. Having owned both Honda and Toyota that have had numerous repairs, my 91 Honda Accord 2 starter coils fail and a part in the auto tranny that makes the tranny shift, I forgot what it was called, failed all before 100K. MY 1991 Toyota Celica started blowing blue smoke at 120K, and I replaced ... Read More...

Re: 2006 Hyundai Sonata [andres3]

So if you buy Toyota's and Honda's, I'd say they are NEVER worthless if kept in good shape. People know they are bulletproof to about 300K if maintained properly Honda and Toyota are two of the best proven vehicles on the road, no question. Having owned both Honda and Toyota that have had numerous repairs, my 91 Honda Accord 2 starter coils fail and a part in the auto ... Read More...

Honda Accord (1990-1993) Maintenance and Repair

Cooling fan on when engine off and cold?

Had to boost my 1991 Honda Accord yesterday and couldn't figure out what I left on, but then today I noticed that a fan was running 3 hours after the engine was shut down in freezing temps. I'm not sure which fan is what, but it is the fan on the passenger side of the engine. Is that a rad cooling fan or is that the condenser cooling fan? ( I'm very green on the subject but ... Re: Honda I-4 RPM's at 70/80 MPH [robertsmx]

Here's a good example of 8000 rpm and 300K miles co-existing on an original (1991) engine. This is currently a daily driver. And if you happen to be in Dallas-Ft Worth Area, an Acura dealership has an on-display car with over 700K miles to go with 8000 rpm. So, it ain't all about rpm, but design and engineering, and considerations to durability. Besides, the last ... Read More...

Re: Giddy Smirky Pride [targettuning]

The stat isn't based on volume, but based on per 100 cars (I think). That said, not all thefts may be for parts, but that can be assumed for most cases. In case of Hondas, you have to couple longevity and compatibility. It was with 1998 Accord that Honda got very serious about it. An example is the audio system. It was beginning of a new era that has led to more integrated ... Read More...

Re: Giddy Smirky Pride [drwilsc]

In fact, the National Insurance Crime Bureau cited the 1991 Honda Accord as the most frequently stolen car in the U.S. in 2005. No Saturns were on the top 10 list. That's more of a reflection of Saturn's dismal sales numbers. Read More...
