Rusting

I currently own a 1990 Ford Aerostar XLT with about 154,000 miles. Within the past few months, the whole exterior of the van is rusting and breaking off. For example, part of the van under the driver's side door fell off because of rust. Is anyone else having rust trouble? The rear sliding door has not been closing completely shut. I've had 2 Aerostars, a 1990 4.0l I bought with 30,000 miles and a 1991 3.0l I bought with 167,000 miles. Both reached 250,000 miles till their transmissions needed rebuilt or replaced. They are workhorses and I will continue to buy them as long as they are still around. Not impressed at all with their replacement, Windstars. Who knows, they brought back the T-bird, ... My 1990 XLT Ext Aerostar has been virtually bullet proof. It has 179,000 miles and still going strong. Used it for towing, hauling home improvement material, hauling kids to practice and even a cross-country vacation. We bought it new in 89 and have never pampered it. Hi, I also have a Ford Aerostar. Mine is a 1990 with 194,500 miles... yes that is correct. (we really drive our vehicles). I to have had A/C problems, radiator, water pump, electric window, stuck fuel gauge problems(some of these problems still not fixed)...But I LOVE my van.
