Test Driver Ratings & Comments

Acceleration commentsWell-isolated driveline has somewhat surprising pep. Traction control comes back on at 32 mph. Best run was with ample tire spin. Upshifts are very smooth.
Braking ratingAverage
Braking commentsSoft pedal, but quiet ABS system makes for uneventful stops. Good fade resistance and admirable stopping power.
Handling ratingGood
Handling commentsBeing lower than other crossovers helps the Venza in the slalom. Toyota has relaxed its often aggressive stability control, but this is still a 3,700-pound wagon. Very little information comes through the steering wheel. Limits, however, are relatively high -- especially considering the competition.
