Interesting that you mention that whine. I have a Venza 4-cyl and I haven't heard it....yet, but I did hear noticeably loud whine upon acceleration on a 2009 Toyota Corolla that I rented. The noise varied with engine speed. Hard to determine whether it was the engine or transmission. Read More...

The Venza, with its large, black dashboard and sloped windshield, definitely needs a dash mat. I use dash mats on all my cars and none need it as much as the Venza does. I researched Venza dash mats pretty thoroughly and finally ordered them (one for my Venza and one for my Camry) from AutoAnything. My mats are perforated Oak made out of a synthetic suede. I just bought a new 2009 Venza AWD V6 with Touring package 10 days ago. The computer reading for the current average MPG jumps all over the place 6 mpg 25, 42 90 etc. all within a couple of miles There is not problem with the computer showing average MPG. I purchased a 2009 Venza in May. It's a 4-cylinder FWD. I have both the sunroof that opens over the front passengers, and also the panoramic moonroof over the rear passengers. So I know this model exists, and it really is a nice feature. Hope this helps. P.S. I live in North Dakota, so if I can find it here, you shouldn't have any trouble finding it elsewhere. I did try looking at what 2009 inventory is still left. It looks like in Northern New Jersey only the 6 cyl AWD model comes with a standard sunroof. I was just confused because I shopped around at a couple of dealers and 1 said we can install a sunroof in the 4 cyl no problem. I was interested in a 4cyl AWD 2009 Venza. I wanted to add the sunroof as an option. When I asked the dealer about this they said they could not do this because of safety issues??? On the toyota website it lists the sunroof as an option to purchase. Is the dealer BSing me or is the sunroof option not available on the 4cyl as I was told by the dealer. This is very disappointing. You should consider the Venza. Its 20" wheels are perfect and give a smooth and noise free ride. I have been driving this vehicle for past 2 months i haven't faced any transmission problem and am getting a good fuel avg aswell on 3.5L V6 AWD.
