Transmission problems
Just a note to see if anyone is having problems with their 2005 Tundra Double Cabs with automatic transmission. I currently own one, purchased in January after 3000 miles the transmission needed replacing (vibration at 35 mph). I didn't ask many questions. On my ride home the repaired transmission would not shift properly and often dropping from 4th gear to ... Read More...

2005 Tundra Crew-Cab 4x4 Problems
Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts! I have an 05' with about 61k on it. (I drive alot!) At about 57k a rear axle seal went out. Had it repaired under warranty, no big deal! This morning while leaving for work the left front ball joint apparently snapped and almost lost the entire front tire. I was only going about 30 mph. but had I made it to the highway and been ... Re: 01' tundra 4.7 transmission problems [apbstyle]
No, your transmission is a 4 speed automatic with the 4th gear being an overdrive. Toyota did not come out with a 5 speed automatic until 2005 model year. I have a 4 speed automatic in my 04 tundra double cab. If you are experiencing a loud clunk you are probably having some sort of problem. Do you change your fluid and filter every 25k to 30K miles? I would have your transmission ... Read More...

Downshifting on minimal inclines
We have a 2005 Toyota Tundra V8 SR5 Access Cab and on a recent trip to Northwest Georgia, driving on Interstate 75 we noticed when approaching a minimal upgrade the vehicle downshifted from overdrive to 3rd gear and sometimes second gear. It completely bypasses fourth gear and by doing so causes the vehicle to accelerate accompanied by a loud engine noise. Has ... Read More...

Toyota refuses to comply with 2003 LATCH regulations...
Dissappointed with Toyota's refusal to comply in 2003...and fighting it thru the 2006 model year. WASHINGTON Toyota Motor Corp. will spend millions to deactivate front-seat passenger air bag cut-off switches in nearly 160,000 Tundra pickups to avoid having to install a costlier child safety seat anchoring system. The Japanese automaker is taking the ... Read More...

2007 Tundra
This truck looks great. This is more like it. For years Toyota never even came near a true Fullsize truck. Finally they have proved themselves to me. I can't wait to see this truck next year.I have a 2005 Tacoma and I am looking to trade it in for a fullsize truck and the Tundra is what I want so far. We will see next summer which truck lands on the top of my list.(Maybe 2007 ... Read More...

Re: Mild vibration, 2005 Tundra [victor3]
On one of the other forums I came across some info on vibration in the Tundra. One of the checks was to take a piece of string and attach it to one of the flats on the front "vibration" joint aft of the transmission and then run it back to the rear "U" joint at the rear end. Tighten the string, then check for out-of-alignment of the split drive shaft. If the drive shaft is ... Read More...

Re: I surprised you think Toyota didn't sweat the details? [callmedrfill]
Yeah, I suppose "loaded" you could spend $40k on a Ford F150, maybe. But I was with my friend when he bought a 2005 F150 XLT 4x4 crew with the 5.4 engine for $26,500, after all the rebate/discount nonsense was done. Do you really think the new Tundra, similarly equiped in SR5 trim, will sell in that price range? I just think if Toyota premium prices this thing, it ought ... Read More...
Re: Drop in horsepower for '06 Tundra? [doglover7]
You've never heard of SAE, did you? It's like a new and more accurate way of measuring HP. But for the 2006 models, only a few companies started using this new measurement system, such as Toyota. And unfortunately for some cars, the new HP ratings make the engines seem less powerful (2005 Toyota Corolla : 130hp; 2006 model : 126hp. Or 2005 Toyota Tundra : 282hp; 2006 ... Read More...
