Review of the 2004 Toyota Tundra

  • Although not quite a true full-size in dimensions or power, the 2004 Toyota Tundra is an excellent general purpose pickup for those who don't need the extra capacity.

  • Safety
  • Pros

Smooth and refined V8, Toyota build quality and reliability, easy maneuverability in urban areas, roomy Double Cab configuration.

  • Cons

Lacks serious brawn for towing and hauling, uncomfortable front seats, cramped rear seat in Access Cab, chintzy interior trimmings.

  • What's New for 2004

The four-door Double Cab joins the 2004 Toyota Tundra lineup. The Double Cab rides on an extended wheelbase of 140.5 inches, and features a cargo bed equal in length to the Access Cab's while gaining 3.5 inches of depth.

Tundra ride

Vehicle: 2004 Toyota Tundra 4dr Access Cab Limited 4WD SB (4.7L 8cyl 4A)

The truck gets looks and turns heads. Very responsive and the 17" alloy wheels look boss. There is a little road noise in the back seat, not bad. The exhaust will make a bump sound if I hit a bad spot in the road. The new grill look reminds me of my 1952 chevy truck a little; I really like that look. With a 3" sst bull bar, sst step bars and the sst bed bars, this truck kicks butt.

Vehicle: 2004 Toyota Tundra 4dr Access Cab Limited 4WD SB (4.7L 8cyl 4A)

This is my second Tundra. My first one was an 02 SR5 4x4. It performed flawlessly. I recently purchased an 04 Limited. The V8 in these trucks is bulletproof. I do alot of highway driving but I also head back into the woods, mud, and snow loading ATVs and Dirtbikes. It performs excellent in all arenas. In addition, if I sepend 30K on a truck I'd expect superior safety qualities which Toyota delivers. Just see the IHSS and Gov't crash scores of some of the competetion out there and compare!

Great truck on the road or on the beach. This is my 4th Toyota, but my first truck. It won't be my last.

I just passed 120K on my 2004 4-runner without a single problem. I regularly tow 5000 lb horse trailer. I need a truck! I would like a diesel and I would like a Toyota. Any hope?...
