hi - i was hoping some of you experts could help me!! i need to buy a new (used) truck, and i wanted some opinions. first of all, it would be a daily driver (i drive about 15K to 18K/year). secondly, it needs to look nice enough for a banker to show up at a customer's office and not be embarrassed. The O2 sensors are a chronic problem on 2000 to 2005 Tundras (don't know about 2006 & up). HOWEVER, I had two sensors replaced by the Toyota dealer on my 2000 Tundra IN WARRANTY. There is a 5-year warranty on those parts. Since you have a 2003, check to make sure you are out of warranty before doing the job yourself. Further, a third one went out on me about 3 months ago. ... You are correct sir. It was the silver. The truck is 2-toned, so all of the silver on the roof was gone after 8 years. I recieved several recall notices on it well after the paint was gone, but decided not to bother. The truck is now black, gray (primer where silver peeled off but didn't rust), and brown (where the silver peeled off and it rusted). The good (and surprising) ... Read More...

For years we heard how bad dodges were, from chevy and ford people, of course, but the folks we knew that had them didnt seem to have many problems with them. after owning fords for 20 years and the dealer and ford really sticking it to us on a windstar and two of our f150s, we converted every thing except the new holland tractors, from ford to dodge. we have a 2003 RAM ... I appreciate you providing the link but in it I could find only one consumer complaint about transmission shifting and it was not the same problem. I searched Edmonds forums for similar tranny problems and didn't see much about this either. So I guess I have to question that it is a "common thing". I know 4 other people that have 2002-2004 Tundras and none have had ... Read More...

Thanks for your response, p51b, You are the first Tundra owner I have heard from. I have heard from 4 Tacoma owners who've been able to tow around 5K lbs., though one out of the 4 said he "white-knuckled" it every time (then got a Dodge Ram 2500). Reading the Dodge forums gets me all freaked out that I will be dealing with one headache after another, bad warranty coverage ... Read More...

I have a 2003 Toyota Tundra with the 4.7 liter gas engine; 4 wheel drive; automatic transmission; tow package with transmission oil cooler; and 71,000 miles on the truck. I have had zero problems with this truck. I change the oil and filter every 3-4,000 miles and am running Mobil 1 5W-30 fully synthetic oil. Some buyers are so stupid...I just traded in my 2002 Tundra for 19,000. I also just bought my new Double Cab 5.7 for 1500 over invoice. My brother bought a new Chevy in 2003 and also wanted to buy a new Tundra. His truck had 10k less miles than mine and was 1 year newer. Guess what his truck was worth.....11,000.
