Used TMV from $3,652
Hi everyone, I'm looking at a 2001 Used Tundra Regular Cab for my dad at the moment. The car is Automatic and has 133,000 miles but I am not clear as to whether or not it is a Basic or SR5 model (per Edmund's TMV search). I got a TMV value of around $3K and the KBB says it is around $3900. I'm pretty confused at this point, is there a ... Read More
Hi. did you ever find out what the problem was regarding the ABS engaging? I'm having the same issue with my 2001 Tundra (190K). I just had the front brakes, front and rear struts replaced along with a wheel bearing on the front left. Now, when I'm parking the ABS pump is engaging. My mechanic took it to Toyota and the diagnositic tests showed nothing! They have replaced the speed censor, ... Read More

hi - i was hoping some of you experts could help me!! i need to buy a new (used) truck, and i wanted some opinions. first of all, it would be a daily driver (i drive about 15K to 18K/year). secondly, it needs to look nice enough for a banker to show up at a customer's office and not be embarrassed. Hi I just bought my first Tundra 2001 SR5 Limited. My keys are not original Toyota key and with all the options this truck has i was wondering if there is a way to see if it came with keyless entry?
I have had a 2001 Tundra since new. At 33K miles the brakes started to shake, so Toyota replaced them under warranty. At 50K it happened again and they told me that there was a problem with he rotors and pads and that it would cost 1500 to fix at my expense. I complained to the Company HQ and they replaced the rotors and pads with heavy duty stuff for free ... Read More

The Tundra also does not have a fully boxed frame which leads me to question its long term durability. Oh NO not the 'it-doesn't-have-a-fully-boxed-frame' curse again. Darn didn't Toyota learn from all those dead GM's and F150's from the 80's and 90's that died from overwork because NONE of them had fully-boxed-frames. Heck they're all over the road and job sites dead as Iraqi tanks simply because they don't have fully-boxed-frames. ... Read More

Your post sounds like total BS to me. Anybody who wants a truck that will last will buy a Toyota or a Nissan. A Ford with more than 250 thousand miles on it? Yeah right.
I just used my tundra for the first 4 days. I am in the construction industry and required a 3/4 or half-ton for the job. I traded a 2001 3/4 silverado (company's truck) for a Black 07 TRD Tundra. I just put 1100 kilometers on it, it averaged 10.7 litres/100 kilometers which is about 22.0 MPG (US gal, not the 26.4 imperial). I basically gained about 120 miles of range per ... Read More
Agree the Silverado is great truck but it certainly does not outshine the F150. I used to own a 1998 F150 it was a great pickup. I sold it on 2001 with 125,000 miles. I had no problems what so ever. It always made big loads in the bed seem like small luggage. I also managed to test drive the F150 and Silverado (2007 models)both vehilcles impressed me. The new Tundra ... Read More

Dear "Usedtobeloyal", This is the first time I looked at this forum, as I am getting ready to replace a personal vehicle (Leased '05 F-150 with 30K miles) with a '07 Tundra. For example, you can talk about the safety recall affecting more than 70,000 2000-2001 Tundras for defective trailer wiring/brake controllers. Or you can talk about the TSB for warping rotors and defective drum brakes. You can talk about the progress Toyota has made addressing past omissions, like limited slip differential, or present omissions, like 4 wheel disc brakes, and towing equipment. ... Read More

Bought a 2001 Tundra SR5 extended cab v8 yesterday; (traded in a 2000 Ford F150 extended cab 4dr 4.2L V6) So far I am very impressed by the Tundra's ride, smooth (and powerful) engine, and how quiet it is. Also, it's much better at maneuvering into tight parking spaces (than the F150). The cabin is smaller than the F150 but personally I don't mind. Three (small to average people) could sit ... Not to spoil the fun here - but I have a 2001 Access 4x4 which is a beautiful truck, but I am having some vibration problems that Toyota has not been able to fix. I consider this a serious quality problem and I am disgusted with Toyota right now. It is a shame because I think there are some fairly simple fixes that could solve the problem (see Tundrasolutions.com), but my ... Read More
My buddy and I both have new 2001 Tundras (stop me now from waxing lyrical.......), but we've got a question for you experts. He's got 6000 miles on his (I just got mine and only have 400 miles) and decided to change the transmission fluid. He drained it and got a tad more than 4 quarts out. He checked the book and it says it takes 2.1 quarts to fill! He ... Read More
the 2001 tundra access cab 4x2 i recently purchased came with the rear axle shifted .25" to the right side. this is obvious as the right wheel sticks out .50" further than the left. when i took this matter to the dealer(who was very helpful) we measured almost every tundra in the lot, from the frame to a consistant groove in the tire. we found every silver(like mine) colored one to ... I am presently in the process of purchasing a 2001 Toyota Tundra V8 4x4 access cab. The only other options I would like are the allweather pkg.the wheel and tire upgrade,a bed liner, floor mats, and the single CD player.I would like to get some input on what other folks have paid for similiar equipped trucks. Many thanks.
but my answer follows; 1. Stop telling mechanics you are mechanically inept, many of them are dishonest and decide you are ignorant and can be overcharged, so go to a new car dealer who you can trust for service and trust them. Also, I've been in Texas the last 55 years and mechanics here aren't any worse than any other state when it comes to being inept or dishonest. 2. My ... Read More
I'm buying my 1st Toyota truck I'm getting the 4dr Access Cab SR5 V8 2WD Since the dealer I went to didn't have the truck he searched for it and found one in the area and went and picked it up.Now he tells me the dealer who had it didn't replace the brake pads per some factory memo or something on replacing the pads and shoes the truck came with. So ... Read More
I've been told by the "guys" in Salisbury, Maryland that Toyota does NOT make a Tundra 4x4, regular cab, long bed any longer. They could only find them in the 2000 model year. Also, they wanted to charge me $23,200 for the truck and another $300 to bring it in from WV. hats up with this? Are these guys serious or just morons that don't know what they are selling? I ... The Tundra V-8 Access Cab is large, solid and well built. Here I my likes dislikes... Dislikes: -No 5 speed available, Automatic transmission only with the iForceV-8! WHY?? -Tracks poorly in corners, can't take corners or windy roads. Sloppy in emergency handling. -Slow off the line (iForceV-8) -Clean but Boring interior, no toys even as options! Why no Sequoia parts bin sharing here? -I can't get comfortable in this truck for ... Read More
I have recently purchased a new 2001 SR5 Tundra with the V8 engine. I have owned a lot of vehicles in my 67 years but this is the best. Quiet, plenty of room, powerful engine, acceptable gas mileage, smooth ride ------ what else would anyone want?
I bought my 2001 Tundra based on my ex. with 9 previous Toyota's. So far it seems like a good decision. Like the overall quality and looks. Lots of power. Have heard the Tundra's have some teething problem's but haven't experienced them yet. Now if I could just get it to tow like a F-350.
Dman, what color is your truck supposed to be? What year is it? If it's a 2000, you're probably talking about platinum, which looks silver but has a tint of blue in it. In 2001, platinum was replaced by silver sky, which is more gray without the blueish tint. Vince8, I don't know exactly what the hp and torque curves are for the trucks, but I know the plenum on the ... Read More
You can now get a factory hitch on the 2001 limited. I think I have Toyota figured out: 2001 - Factory hitch 2002 - Locker option 2003 - give buyer a choice in rear differentials 2004 - offer choice of 2 V8 engines 2005 - Autotrac like option 2006 - redesign of truck includes a rear seat sized for humans By 2006 they will almost be caught up with the 1999 ... I purchased a 2001 Tundra,4dr,4X4, SR5 a couple months ago. No problems, no vibrations at all at any speed. I looked at all the full size trucks and can honestly say they all are well built. It came down to a Chevy Silverado SL and the Tundra. Small differences between them made my choice the Toyota. I am a repeat Toyota owner and have been happy. Friends of mine own Chevy ... Read More
I RECENTLY PURCHASED (5 DAYS AGO) A TUNDRA ACCESS CAB, 2 WHEEL DRIVE, SR5. THE DEALERSHIP MADE ME A FANTASTIC DEAL ON A 2001 THUNDER GREY METALLIC COLOR. THEY DID NOT QUESTION MY DESIRE TO HAVE THE EXISTING BRIDGESTONE TIRES SWAPPED WITH A UNIT THAT CAME WITH DUNLOP TIRES. THIS TRUCK FOR ITS SIZE IS SMOOTH, POWERFUL, CLASSEY AND HAS NO VIBRATIONS AT ANY SPEEDS. TRUE TOYOTA QUALITY. MY PRICE OUT ... Read More
From a 10/12 AP story that Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. "tested a tire model made for two Toyota vehicles after small cracks were found on the sidewalls, but both companies said Thursday that the problems appear to be only cosmetic." They said that the " Dueler HT 689 model, size P265/70R16, was standard equipment on some of Toyota's full-sized Tundra pickup trucks and its new 2001 Sequoia sport utility vehicle until last month ...
