It depends on: What they are offering you. How you've maintained your vehicle. What condition it's in for the next few yearts. My 1999 Tacoma ran great because I took great care of it. I had to have a GREAT deal to part with it, even in 2008 with 141,000 miles on it. I was very wary until I actually was told what they would pay me. Mine was part of ... Read More
jmack: The first thing is to find out if the Toyota program for Tacoma frame rust program is still in effect. Back when I sold them my 1999 Tacoma - in Sept. 2008, they were qualifying rusted Tacomas under two circumstances: 1. Surface rust had to be, in their estimation, in excess of their "standards". At the time their standards were they didn't want very much surface rust on any Tacoma ... Read More

From what I understood at the time, the program began in March, 2008. Toyota required owners of affected Tacomas to have owned the car before then. I would contact a Toyota dealer with the specifics.
Bru5: It sounds like your Tacoma is covered by the 15 year extended rust warranty program Toyota instituted in Fall, 2008. Beginning March, 2008, Tacoma owners were notified to have thier 1995-2000 Tacomas inspected for frame rust. Toyota repaired or bought back about 10% of the 1995-2000 Tacomas having more frame rust than Toyota considered to be "acceptable". They offered and in many instances bought back trucks at 1 - 1/2 ... Read More

An 07 toyota access cab like you describe with power accessories and a few options wholesales used with average miles for about $17000. For a new 08 your target would be about 21000. A Nissan frontier extended cab is easily doable for less than this. A comparable 08 dodge dakota club cab with options is probably $17000-18000 or so with a lifetime powertrain warranty. The 20mpg trucks have sold with such ... Read More
Hark! Someone listens. Toyota admitted this flaw in this era of Tacomas. You can get the specifics here, but the gist is that the frames will be extended to 150K or so, and replaced or reparied at toyota expense. http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/07/toyota-extends-rust-warranty-on-older-tacoma-- pickups-to-15-years/ similar statements have been cross-posted by others. I luckily have not had this problem yet.
It's a 2008 Tacoma Access cab with convenience package/mat/protection package for $19,817 out the door. This is the second new Toyota I bought from him this year. Both times all the other dealers said that he would never sell the vehicle at that price. He has people flying in from all over to buy cars/trucks. His name is Scott Bolin & email address is sbolin.toyotaoffortworth@eleadtrack.net Tell him Jim Williamson referred you ... Read More
Purchased a 2008 Tacoma Access Cab with conven. package & mats for $19.8k out the door at Toyota of Fort Worth. Very good experience.
After reading the comments on here on frame rust, I took a long hard look at the frame on the demo 2008 Tacoma Crew Cab at my dealer (Ira). It has only been a demo since October 2007, but in this snowy, wet winter it already has lots of surface rust at the frame welds and box intersections. I showed this to the service tech and he said the rust alone ... Read More
I too bought a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. I live on Cape Cod and park mine in my driveway. No problems at all with my windows freezing. Good luck to you!
I purchased a 2008 Toyota Tacoma in May 2007 and have had no problems with this truck with the exception of one. I live in the NE where winters are cold and park my truck outside most days. Once colder weather began with temperatures below freezing all my windows freeze shut and I cannot open any windows. This is so bad, that even with running the heater for a long while ... Read More
this was a total nightmare to me toyota said nothing was wrong they had tight lips for 40 days with no answer and the dealer where the truck was located had tight lips also i got the dealers commission involved with no answer my last chance was to have the dealer buy the truck back from me which they did at a large loss but i just could not drive this ... The Nissan should be a far better buy than the Toyota and you will also have a better truck. Since no Tacoma owners have chimed in, I guess they agree with you. Was there any upgrades/fixes on the 2008 Fronty that I shouldn't miss out on? Many thanks!
I have 2008 Tacoma v6 TRD package 4X4 with same vibration (around 2000 RPM at any speed). Had truck for 3 months now. Reported problem before I had 20 miles on truck. Toyota says they are working on it, but also said it is characteristic triat. What can we do if they don't fix soon? Do Lemon laws apply if no safety issue? Is there a safety issue?
I'm done beating my head against the wall at the chevy store (tried to purchase a left over 07 in stock for 3 days, and couldn't get a call back before the end of the month). Time to get real, and buy a Toyota. Looking at an 08 Tacoma 4x4 V6 auto, double cab, with the sport package. MSRP is just over 30k. Is 12% off sticker realistic? Is Toyota running ... Read More
In Milford, MA. Just bought 2008 Tacoma Access Cab, 6 cyl, auto: MSRP: $29,459 INVOICE $26,876 Leased for a Gross cap cost of $26,476
Just picked up a new 2008 ranger w/ 60 miles on it. It was between a new ranger and an 04 tacoma. The sticker on the ranger was 16.5k and on the tacoma 12.9k. The tacoma had 34k miles on it, and was at Scott Clark's Toyota City. Here are my two experiences: 1) I orginally picked the tacoma because of how they hold their value. Just a basic, regular cab ... I have a 2008 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 Access Cab v6 4.0L, that has the same problem with the starting, My truck has a grand total of 1200km's on it, I've had it for less then 3 weeks. The truck takes 2-3 tries of turning the key for the engine to start. When the truck does finally start, it works great. Jap Crap or what?
2008 Frontier quote Truckin- All in all, the Frontier is easily one of the strongest contenders in the midsize class in my book. Though the Toyota Tacoma certainly has its fans, and is a formidable competitor in most respects, it lacks the eagerness and responsive, sporty edge that the Frontier has. Even with the Dodge Dakota offering an optional V8, and the Chevy Colorado about to, the 4.0L VQ engine provided ... Read More
Is an automatic available on the 2007 or 2008 Tacoma 4cyl? I don't need a V6, and it's hard to drink coffee and drive a stick. ;) Does the 4cyl Tacoma's feel pretty peppy? I like my old Toyota, and would like another one. However, I'm afraid I'm going to have to jump to another brand if I can't get 4cyl and Auto. Thanks for any opinions.
Hi mzaiderman. You never mentioned whether you are interested in the 2007 or the 2008 Tacoma. I suspect that the '07 models are mostly sold out at this point, so I will go with the '08. Unfortunately, Toyota is not currently providing any lease support on the '08 Tacoma in its Los Angeles region. As a result, if you were to lease one through Toyota Financial Services right now, you would ... Read More
You're very welcome, sswen7. Unfortunately, I do not believe that Toyota is providing lease support on the Tacoma in many areas right now. As a result, if you were to lease any Tacoma, 2007 or 2007 model, through Toyota Financial Services you would have to use its standard lease program. TFS' buy rate standard lease money factor may vary slightly by region, but it should probably be around .00285 for consumers ... Read More
Could you please tell me what the money factor and residual would be for 36 mo. lease, 12k per year for a new 2007 or 2008 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab with the off road package? I would also be interested in the interest rate for a 60 month loan. Thanks for your help.
