Re: Help me understand the 2005/2006 Tacoma 4x4 [frisina]
Frisina, you dont have a center differential (CD), you have a transfer case, which operates effectively like a permanently locked CD. Check out this very good summary. cliffy1, "Toyota 4WD systems explained" #4, 16 May 2001 4:00 pm You may want to check out the first 5 posts to this thread (authored by cliffy) to get a good understanding of the pros and cons of your ... Octane Report
According to Consumer Reports, Annual Auto Issue, "Upfront Advice" Page 9, April 2006 is their article titled 'Don't buy premium fuel'. Here's a recap of that article. "Don't buy premium fuel unless you have to---if your owner's manual calls for it or if your car knocks or pings on regular gas. Otherwise, use regular. Our tests have shown that any performance ... Ticking V6 engine TSB
If you haven't heard, there's a TSB to fix the engine tick. I've already been to the dealership and handed them this TSB. They didn't put up a fight about it. The new parts are on their way, and will be installed soon. If you're just now finding out about this TSB, you might have to wait a while for the parts. They will probably be on backorder soon, from all the people ... Read More...
Re: Driveline clunk update [vincewood30]
On take off, my 2006 Tacoma makes a clanking noise. However, it occurs only periodically. Is this because the splined slip yoke assembly sticks only at certain points? And does anyone know what causes a rocking effect after a hard brake? The dealer has been less than helpful. I am dissappointed with Toyota this time around. Read More...
Toyota Tacoma vs Honda Ridgeline
Re: High above the ground? [ustazzaf]
When I went looking, Honda had a total of three configs to choose from. I don't recall seeing a 4 cyl option, 2 wheel drive or 6 speed manual option. All they had was over priced basic, overpriced mid level, and fully decked out jacked up priced car with a bed. -------------------------- Sheesh, do I have to repeat myself again. 1. Honda is on it's first year of it's ... Read More...

2006 Tacoma 4X4 Long Bed
My truck follows the rain grooves on the highway. I think Toyota has made a mistake and in some sort of cost cuting measure. I believe either larger tires of a better set of struts might solve this problem. So far Toyota has done a very poor job responding to my safety concerns. Am alone? Any advise would be nice. Re: Getting CDRs to play in 2006 Toyota Tacoma
I have a 2006 Tacoma with the standard CD player and after an hour and a half or so, my CDRs have a tendency to skip. Not all the time, but sometimes. Toyota tells me not to play them at all, but I don't accept that. I have bought higher grade CDR media to see if this will help. I noticed the discs are really warm when i remove them after the problem starts. Toyota told me that ... Read More...

Re: foarding depth for 2006 tacoma [sunonus]
Toyota says 27", but take into account that you are going to have to extend your differential breathers etc. Define extreme? I am on my fourth Toyota truck, new one in an '05 Taco d-cab 4x4. I have not yet had the chance to take apart one of the front hubs yet to see how well they are sealed, but from past experience I know that you are gonna learn how to repack your hubs ... Re: Ridgeline RT vs Double Cab 4wd SR5 Tacoma [ramzey28]
Wow, I was standing in your shoes a year ago. The Following is my purchase experience from March 15, 2005. They're both extremely fine vehicles, but the Taco doesn't really compare to the RL IMO, and here's why. Keep in mind I was very stoked to go buy my 05 Taco Sport. This was a big decision. I can only think of a better choice if I needed to tow 10,000 lbs. For me it came ... Read More...
