Toyota Tacoma 2005+

Re: Locks, Air Bags and Tires [ustazzaf]

I believe the curtain airbags have been rare on the 2005+ Tacomas. I know it wasn't even discussed when I bought my 2006 4DR TRD Sport 4x4 6M. I just went to the build function on Toyota's website and found that you can't spec the curtain airbags on the TRD Sport with the 6 speed manual. I wouldn't have changed my order to get the airbags. It does seem that it shouldn't ... Read More...

Internally Frozen Door Lock

I've got a 2006 Tacoma and am having problems with the driver's side door lock freezing internally on cold icy days. (I don't have this problem with the passenger side door lock.) Also, with regard to the driver's side door lock: it doesn't matter how much water I poor on the door seal/lock it remains locked. Which tells me that the door lock itself must be frozen ... Toyota Tacoma General Shopping Questions

What's the cost is a valid question

Im in the market to but a Tacoma V6 4x4 Access cab, TRD package, trailer towing package. To start my search I contacted Costco's auto buying system which ended up with a saleman calling me in the Kern county area of California. At first I hesitated to call back since the last thing I wanted to do was talk with a salesman. After about 5 messages I called back to see what ... Read More...

Side and curtain airbags

When I purchased my 2006 DC TRD 4X4 it was almost impossible to find the option available. Even at the very large Toyota dealerships none of them had the airbag option on the many Tacoma trucks on the lot. One dealer told me that they never ordered them because the Tacoma was already "very safe". Others said that Toyota didn't accept the order. Needless to say that ... Read More...

Toyota Truck Owners: Problems & Solutions

2005+ Front Suspension too close to tire & dangerous

The new 05 or newer tacoma front suspension knuckles are so close to the tire sidewall it prevents snow chains of any type from being used on the front tires. This was not a limitation on my 95 & 98 tacoma. The distance is appx half inch or less. This is a huge limitation for backcountry off roaders in snow and mud and for hunters. It could be dangerous also if front tire ... Read More...

2006 Toyota Tacoma Tire Size Upgrade???

I have a 2006 Double Cab PreRunner. The tire size on this model is 245/75R16. I want to get new tires that are a little bigger, maybe wider as well, but the sales people at Firestone tell me that going any larger than the factory recommended tire size will cause rubbing on turns. I've seen other Tacomas (although they are a few years older) that have larger tires...265/70R16. ... Read More...
