I believe the curtain airbags have been rare on the 2005+ Tacomas. I know it wasn't even discussed when I bought my 2006 4DR TRD Sport 4x4 6M. I just went to the build function on Toyota's website and found that you can't spec the curtain airbags on the TRD Sport with the 6 speed manual. I wouldn't have changed my order to get the airbags. I've got a 2006 Tacoma and am having problems with the driver's side door lock freezing internally on cold icy days. (I don't have this problem with the passenger side door lock.) Even at the very large Toyota dealerships none of them had the airbag option on the many Tacoma trucks on the lot. The new 05 or newer tacoma front suspension knuckles are so close to the tire sidewall it prevents snow chains of any type from being used on the front tires. This was not a limitation on my 95 & 98 tacoma. The distance is appx half inch or less. This is a huge limitation for backcountry off roaders in snow and mud and for hunters.
