I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4 door. All I can say is that I am very disappointed with the milage I get. 14 MPG's on its best days. My brothers Ford 150 gets better. There has to be something wrong. I have now about 40,000 miles and nothing has changed from day one. I am thinking of selling it for just this reason. I run AmsOil (being a distributor and all). This oil is the most efficient and easiest on the engine wear due to the way it is formulated. The synthetic transmission and axle lube changes might help. I've got 2006 4WD V6 Double and just hit 25K. I just added an ARE cap. I've found that my highway mpg, the sweetspot is 65-70, with a steadyyy foot. A good tale-wind will ... Read More...

Carry truck to the shop 2 times for stranges squeaking noise. Clutch dies at 20,000 miles. Shop (Local Toyota) say "you've benna racing this here truck" - "We aint a covering no clutch work" - And this before it was even looked at. Truck has been pampered. Well its a sad day! Maybe not sad, but I bought the 2006 nissan frontier loaded. You just can't seem to find 2.7 liter tacomas around here. Also, the dealers are asking and getting top $$$$ for them. I did. The dealer failed my truck on Friday, April 27 and I got a call the following Monday from the company that handles the buyback. They emailed the acceptance letter to me and I signed and faxed it back to them. Got another call from the the following Monday, May 5 and I brought the truck to them the following day, signed some more papers, handed them the keys and ... Read More...

sculver..... It certainly seems that the tacoma clutch has more than it's fair share of problems. 2006 Tacoma 6 speed 4x4 TRD Off Road 2 clutches 28000 mi. First clutch went 18000 mi. Dealer said they would be generous & cover under warranty. The spring broke in the clutch disk. Now at 28000 mi the insied of clutch disk seperated from the out sied of the cluch disk. The delar said it is not under warranty & in plied it is the way i drive. I also drive a 2002 Jeep 5 speed ... I also have a tacoma 4cyl 5spd 2005. I have noticed heavy shuddering in 1st gear since new, but have learned many others have the same issue. A bigger problem occured on friday night coming down an off-ramp, my shifts felt very sticky. Once stopped at the light, I was unable to put the truck back into gear.
