Tacoma
Vehicle
2006 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner V6 4dr Access Cab SB (4.0L 6cyl 5A)
Review
This is my first truck and I love it. The truck is strong and looks nice. I have over 1200 miles and no problems so far. The ride height is high, though feels bumpy at times. Gas is good but doesnt match advertised mileage so far. All my friends dig it, they all want to drive it, haha. Overall runs smooth, except in stop and go traffic, automatic is kinda shifty.
Favorite Features
Styling is eye catching. Power is there when needed. Interior design, lots of storage space. Engine layout, easy to change oil. Ride height. Off road look and feel.
Suggested Improvements
Fender flares should be part of body steering kinda loose, could be tighter ride sometimes bumpy, but its a truck. Hopefully mpg improves with break in. Automatic could be smoother in traffic.

Smooth Runner But Very Uncomfortable
Vehicle
2006 Toyota Tacoma 2dr Regular Cab SB (2.7L 4cyl 4A)
Review
The Tacoma is very quiet and smooth. Comfortable ride but sloppy handling. Very little brake feel. The base model seats are absolutely miserable. The seat belt receptacles are too far over causing them to rub on my hip (I actually paid an upholstery shop to move the driver side over!). I'm a thin person, if you are heavy or wide you simply won't fit. The steering wheel does not telescope out far enough forcing you into an uncomfortable driving position. I have owned it 4 months and I'm already looking to trade it off because I just can't get comfortable in the thing. Too bad, too, because it seems well built otherwise.
Favorite Features
Smooth running, smooth ride. Seems like it will be durable. There is a quality to the way it runs and shifts you just won't find in a Ranger or Colorado. The cup holders will accommodate all sized drinks.
Suggested Improvements
The seats are terrible. Come on Toyota, you can do better than this. Gas mileage averages about 23-24 on the highway. Steering wheel doesn't telescope far enough. Better brake feel. Tighten up the handling. Make it so it doesn't rev to 2500 rpm for 20-30 seconds at start up, this is annoying!

06 Tacoma 4X4
Vehicle
2006 Toyota Tacoma 4dr Access Cab 4WD SB (2.7L 4cyl 5M)
Review
Second truck issued, first was replaced using the lemon law. Current truck has clutch and 4x4 disengagement problems. I wished Toyota would have kept the Tacoma as a smaller truck... this would have helped with the gas mileage. I'm currently getting 21 hwy / 18 city.
Favorite Features
Nice ride for a truck, and I like the access cab design.
Suggested Improvements
Cup holder too close to shifter - moving to second gear is hampered if a drink is in holder. Make clock and radio displays brighter in daylight conditions.

Cool truck
Vehicle
2006 Toyota Tacoma V6 4dr Access Cab 4WD SB (4.0L 6cyl 5A)
Review
Really nice to drive. The 4.0 is really quick. You have to get the TRD off road package to get the real nice interior and features. The four wheel drive is excellent in the snow. I am disappointed with how fast the bf goodrich tires wore in just the first 12,000 miles from all highway driving.
Favorite Features
TRD off road package, towing package, access cab, the bed and cargo securing ability. You have to get the adjustable cargo divider that fits in the side rails.
Suggested Improvements
Better adjustable cup holders. Move the power mirror control from the dash to the door so you don't have to lean forward to adjust mirrors.
Solid truck
Vehicle
2006 Toyota Tacoma V6 4dr Double Cab 4WD SB (4.0L 6cyl 5A)
Review
Truck gives feel of a larger truck, plenty of room. V6 extremely strong; it acts like it's ready to jump upon request. TRD package gives truck nice stiff ride; it handles curves and bumpy roads nicely. Only had it a few weeks and I feel I made a good decision to purchase. All the truck you'll ever need for occasional hunting trips or to haul your gear.
Favorite Features
TRD package, sporty styling, automatic transmission, V6, 4 doors.
Suggested Improvements
Improved standard audio system, and standard driver and passenger air bag system.

Why Did I Wait?
Vehicle
2006 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner V6 4dr Access Cab SB (4.0L 6cyl 5A)
Review
I am your typical "Truck Guy". I have loved the small 4X4 pickup since Datsun had them out in the early 80's. I have never owned one though, until this one. I don't know why I waited so long. In my job I drive many vehicles and once I drove the '06 Tacoma, I knew I was home. I haven't driven a smoother more comfortable pickup of this size ever. I also have a disability that causes me to suffer a great deal of pain when driving most vehicles. I don't experience any pain when driving my Tacoma. If everyone built a vehicle this solid and reliable, I would be out of work. There is a reason that a used Tacoma sells at or near its' original selling price.
Favorite Features
Getting better MPG than the EPA says, smoothness, stance, bucket seats and console.
Suggested Improvements
There are no improvements I can think of for this truck.

Steering wheel shakes
Vehicle
2006 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner V6 4dr Double Cab SB (4.0L 6cyl 5A)
Review
Overall a great truck, good power and very comfortable truck. My truck has a shake or shimmy in the steering wheel that the dealer can't seem to fix after several attempts, they even let me drive a new 07 off the lot and it had the same problem. The truck rides fairly smoothly but the steering wheel shake between 55 and 70 MPH is extremely annoying. Other than that, I love this truck, beautiful styling, plenty of power, comfort, good gas mileage for a truck. I get between 20 and 22 MPG depending on how my right foot feels that day, combined city/highway driving.

Great Truck For The Money
Vehicle
2006 Toyota Tacoma 2dr Regular Cab 4WD SB (2.7L 4cyl 5M)
Review
Have owned this truck for about 2 months. Traded in a 2002 Dakota as I was sick of 15 mpg. The Toyata has delivered an impressive 25-26 mpg. Recently returned from a 2 week fishing trip. Towed a 14 ft boat, motor, and enough equipment to last the average man 6 moths. Even with all the extra weight it averaged 21-22 mpg and on the ride home with less weight it climbed back to over 23. For a 4 cylinder vehicle it pulled my boat & trailer with little problem, going in the Berkshires with little downshifting. Only problem I have had is with visibility. I find my view blocked when checking oncoming traffic to my left so need to rely on the exterior mirrors more and direct sight less.
Favorite Features
Obviously I love the mileage the most. I know gas prices have come down but does anyone really think they won't go back up? 25-26 mpg is pretty sweet. For a 4 cyl engine truck has impressive torque and pulling power. Acceleration, while not overwhelming, is adequate.
Suggested Improvements
The visiblity problem bothers me. The way I have my seat adjusted the solid part of the cab where the seat belt protrudes and the glass window ends blocks my view of traffic from my left. This seems a safety hazard, when entering a highway for example. A split seat and cruise control would be nice.

2006 tacoma
Vehicle
2006 Toyota Tacoma V6 4dr Access Cab 4WD SB (4.0L 6cyl 5A)
Review
Performance is great, but has vibration and harmonic hum starting at about 54 mph. Has been there since new, havent taken back to dealer yet. Also, 2 of the wheel center caps will not fit straight, are crooked. These are the only problems so far.
Favorite Features
very nicely built truck, this is my 4th Toyota truck. Hopefully will be reliable as the rest have been.
Suggested Improvements
Need better fit and finish on wheel caps, you cant tell me no one noticed how poorly they fit before they let it out the door. Dont like the look of the fender flares.

Tacoma - all the way
Vehicle
2006 Toyota Tacoma V6 4dr Double Cab 4WD SB (4.0L 6cyl 5A)
Review
I have had this vehicle now for almost 3 months. Love it to death. Had a slight mishap in an off-road extravaganza and messed my rim up. What should have been a bent control and tie rods ended up with just a mere alignment jar. Amazing vehicle inside and out. I get comments from people who drive the F150,250, Dodge 1500, 2500, and Chevy seirra, they all like the comfort of the front seats. Now let me talk about performance, the off-road package is the way to go. Bilstein shocks, and a built in engine braker in the transmission. Great control. Going around bends, this vehicle leans less then my previous 2WD tacoma that was base height, not nearly as high as this. WELL BUILT!
Favorite Features
Engine braking, transmission, handling, front seats, they really do hold you in the seat. The acceleration and handling. The top mount oil filter. The dentless bed. It will scratch, but it's not easy. So far, cannot dent it.
Suggested Improvements
Suggest MPG gauge be included with the direction and temp console. XM radio. A 12V DC aux outlet inside the center console and at the floor in the back seat. A power inverter in the dash right under the cigarette lighter.
