Peppy performance & excellent fuel economy

Review

The fuel economy has been pleasant surprise avg. 27 mpg once got 27.76 over 400 miles mixed driving never less than 25.23. The larger than avg. 2.7L 4 cyl has plenty of low end torque with the manual trans. This trucks interior is very comfortable. The truck feels very safe and stable at high interstate speeds. I spend most of my driving on public roads where this truck feels stable and manuverable, not tippy.

great fuel economy, comfort, performance, styling.

Suggested Improvements

Lighter alloy wheels for SR5 package.

06 Tacoma 4x4 Double Cab LB, Sport Package #2: Black Sand Pearl. What's there to say other then "toyota". Quality is expected, and this truck delivers. had the truck for a month, and have traveled over 1000 miles. Towed over a ton and a half, and have no complant with the truck or performance. Appearance is eye catching.

Power and Style Combined

Review

Top of the line styling, best in class! The truck presents like a truck while at the same time scores as a top-shelf SUV from the inside out. The long bed is just that, long on functionality and big on capability. This class, size and design of truck ensures heads turn as you drive by and no doubt fills driver and passengers with pride.

Favorite Features

The style and sleek design of the Sport package TRD is huge from a drivers perspective. The interior is one the money for class and utility. Making the most of storage is critical in this cclass of trucks and Toyota makes the grade.

Suggested Improvements

Future designs should incorporate more computer like interface with the trucks performance parameters. Enhanced read-outs would allow for ease of understanding and insight into status of vehicle and directional control.

Very Nice truck

I have just bought my vehicle, so I do not have too much to base my decision on, but so far so great! I love the looks mostly of the vehicle, but the feel and drive of the truck is like no other. Handles extremely well, has a smooth almost car like ride, but still lets you know you are driving a TRUCK. Can't wait to try the 4x4 out.

Favorite Features

I love the hoodscoop and the outlet in the back of the truck.

Suggested Improvements

My main improvements would have to be the dash: radio, air vents, etc. The dash looks futuristic, yet somewhat plain. I do not like that you have to use more than one lever to adjust the air vents; one for horizontal movement, and one for the verticle. Also back seat air vents would be nice.

This is probably the cheapest new vehicle you can get today. Drives great, good quality, big improvements over last truck I had from 1982!

Favorite Features

Ergonomics are good, good displays, great features in bed, large rear view mirrors.

Suggested Improvements

Add center console for basic model. There is no real room for a passenger here. Miss arm rest on center console.

Love the aggressive looks. Very comfortable and it has spacious rear seating. One of the best as far as gas mileage for trucks.

Awesome truck! I previously owned a 2004 Chevy Silverado and went to the 2006 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road, and have no complaints! The off road capabilities are amazing and with the 4.0 engine, you can do just about anything and go anywhere. This truck can do it all, from launch a boat to rough trails in the desert! in addition to off road the tacoma handles extremly well on surface streets. All around GREAT truck!

Favorite Features

Off road capabilities, 6 cd in-dash CD player, steering mounted controls, Rugged design, fuel efficency.

Suggested Improvements

Built in Sirius or XM radio.

Fun truck. Good 4 passenger pickup. 4.0 v6 lots of power. California freeway driver here. Was looking for a Tundra, not needed. Live in No. Calif. Ran to Las Vegas last week.. very, very nice.

Favorite Features

Good power for v6. Roomy for a "small truck". Lots of desert climate where I drive. Nice cold a/c.

Suggested Improvements

Body style a little lacking, specifically grille and hood. Other than that it's a nice truck.

Overall the Tacoma is what a truck should be modeled after. Rugged, reliable and fun to drive. If one is the market for a true 4X4 truck, buy a Tacoma.

Favorite Features

Bedliner and various tie-downs. Roomy interior and full-swing rear suicide doors. Nice body styling.

Suggested Improvements

Make cruise-control a standard feature. Put a bit more pep into the 2.7L 4-cyl engine. Move the emergency brake to a floor (pedal) type.

Get the v6

Great truck in every aspect except I purchased the 4 cyl. It is my only regret. It took some getting used to, since I traded in a loaded 4x4 tahoe for this truck, but now I like it a lot. I highly recommend this vehicle. Make sure you get the v6 if you tow anything.

Gas mileage for the size of the vehicle and 4 wheel drive.

Suggested Improvements

The plastic bed seems cheap and is easily damaged when loading and unloading heavy items.
