My 05 Tacoma has been terrific so far. It's powerful, comfortable, quiet and extremely well built. It's the Lexus of mid-size trucks. The V6 Prerunner is very capable offroad in most cases and on road, it's a joy. I have no problem or issue that require a return to the dealer. It's a good thing as the dealer experience was anything but pleasant. Luckily, Toyota engineered the V6 with the oil filter easily accessible on top of the engine so oil changes a breeze to do at home. Most of all, you can't go wrong with Toyota reliability and value.
The interior design and comfort really make the truck a winner. The composite bed is a great idea as well as the 110 A/C power outlet in the bed. The 4.0 V6 has incredible power and torque. The 5 speed auto is very smooth. Oil filter placement is great and ease of maintenance looks very good.
The Bridgestone Dueler H/T tires are a poor choice for the factory to use on this truck. Traction is poor on wet and snow covered roads. A more agressive tread would be appreciated. A simple Toyota Logo would be fine for the tailgate instead of "TOYOTA" "TACOMA" "PRERUNNER" "V6 SR5".
