My 1996 Tacoma went 176,000 miles
before needing a new clutch and brakes
and rotors. I suppose that the engine
is good for another 200k. The oil
dipstick still has the color of new oil
(honey color) even after 4500 miles, my
oil change intervals. If I had been
the original owner, the clutch could
have lasted longer.
My favorite feature is the smoothness
of the engine. I have "cranked" the
engine while it was alredy at idle.
After 177,000 miles, I get 28.6 MPG
driving 22 miles to and from work each
I wished the paint was clear-coated. I
found out it was not after a little
fender work was done last month. I
wish I had more leg room in a standard
cab. With workboots, I am six feet
