We bought our Taco end of last year
and have since put 8600 miles on it.
Toyota really hit the nail on the head
with this one. It is by far the best
looking and most comfortable compact
crew cab on the market (I tried them
all). Roomy, well built interior
coupled with Toyota reliability sold
me right away. I, like everyone else,
would like the clock relocated AND
made LCD instead of LED, which you
can't read if the sun happens to be
shining on it. I would like to have
more HP. I could supercharge, but I
can't get past the $3000 price tag.
It gets around fine and pulls my boat
right down the interstate, but you can
never have too many horses!
Can you say TRD offroad package? I
love the locker in the rear end and
the bigger tires and rims! Sporty,
yet refined, well built, and great off
road. This is the only choice for a
compact crew cab!
Offer the 4.7 V8 OR the supercharger

Bought new in July. I have 2080 miles on it. The air conditioner compressor
is loud with it on high. The paint appears wrinkled along the lower rocker
panels. I have been told this is normal. Clock is no big deal but you can't see
it while driving. Came from the factory with one cargo hook missing in the
rear, dealer replaced it without any problem. The rear seat folded down
provides an unstable platform for carrying much. I do love the ECT switch on
this rig and the comfortable front and rear seating is a plus. Picked up 1.5
MPG with the K&N air filter. So far I am satisfied with the vehicle and the
ECT and 4x4 system.
Thicker paint on the bed. Move/do away with the clock. Make the backs of
the rear fold down seats more level to actually be able to put stuff on them.
This is by far the best all around
truck out there. I owned a extended
cab prerunner before and the only
complaint I ever had was the small xtra
cab. Well, Toyota fixed that with the
new Double Cab...no complaints now :)
Double Cab, smooth ride, soft seats,
and wonderful storage capacity in the
I purchased my truck 2002 dbl cab 4x4
with a TRD suspension package although
axle wrap is a real problem. Axle wrap
is caused by soft leaf springs
distorting while braking and or
accelerating causing the drive line to
bind, thump and bump. It has been to
the dealer twice without long term
correction. A crack service tech from
Toyota is supposed to work on the axle
wrap problem when he is in town. It is
my hope that this problem can and will
be resolved soon. I have never had a
Toyota or any other car with this type
Fix Axle Wrap issue.
Five speed automatic transmission.~
Have had this Tacoma for two weeks and really love it. So far mileage has
been decent. I have 1580 miles on it (vacation) and just installed the K&N
air filter. The K&N made a slight difference in acceleration for the better.
Paid 2.7% above dealer invoice. Build quality is super. Did have one rear
cargo hook missing in the bed.
I like the ECT mode for the difference in performance.
Relocate the clock. Additional skid plates should be available.
