You should take note that 1995-2000 Tacomas have an acknowledged frame-rust problem. Trucks in this group are subject to annual inspection by a dealer. Dear Truck14, I was told way back in '04 that by this time manual transmissions would not be standard equipment on most vehicles sold anymore, but the automatic would. Hey Tom, before you buy another toyota pick-up, do your homework, they just ain't what they used to be. You can check out these forums for info. I've owned two of the 90's pick-ups (before they had names for them) and they were great. Just regular 2wd, stick. I ended up buying a 2004 2wd auto Tacoma and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I purchased a 2009 white tacoma double cab long bed 4x2 TRD from Wesley Chapel in Florida. I paid $23,482.95 out the door. I think there was a 1,500 rebate and I had a cfc trade in that got me about 3600. I enjoy the truck but only have approx. 2000 miles on it so I can't give an in depth report. Bru5: It sounds like your Tacoma is covered by the 15 year extended rust warranty program Toyota instituted in Fall, 2008. Beginning March, 2008, Tacoma owners were notified to have thier 1995-2000 Tacomas inspected for frame rust. Toyota repaired or bought back about 10% of the 1995-2000 Tacomas having more frame rust than Toyota considered to be "acceptable". ... Read More...

i have a 96 tacoma when havin it inspected if fail. few days later i got a call tellin me how they buy them back at 150% book sound good huh, then the guy goes on to tell me that becuz my 28 years old son who live in my house sold his 2000 model tacoma back, that they can only give myself 2900 which is around 1/3 of that it should be for my. becuz both are from the same household. ... Dear Sir--I had a 2000 Tacoma with 96,000 kms. here in S. Ont. just west of London, ON. Last summer it failed inspection. Toyota paid me 19,000--the same amount I had paid 5 years previous. Not worth the insurance issues if I had an accident with a "failed" truck. Sure miss my truck, but glad to be rid of the whole situation. Toyota paid for a car rental for one month ... Read More...
