2011 Toyota Sienna Minivan XLE 7-Passenger 4dr Minivan AWD (3.5L 6cyl 6A)

Review

We purchased our Sienna 14 months ago and have driven it 19k miles. We still have our 2001 Sienna with 135k miles on it and the new van has improved in every way. Didn't like the van at first because of the ride, but replaced the run flats with normal tires and it now rides and drives like a luxury vehicle. We get about 20 mpg in town and 25 mpg on the road. So far, we are very pleased.

Best Features

Love the space, all wheel drive, the ride and the rear entertainment system

Worst Features

Interior materials on the dash could be better, but this is a minor detail. Get rid of the run flats and have the vehicle come with a spare tire or a repair kit for normal tires.

Review

We purchased the Sienna XLE a few weeks ago. We spent good money on a high end vehicle expecting great quality, unfortunately we've been very disappointed. All the back seats are squeaking and rattling. It started with the 3rd row seat, then the pilot chair seats. We brought it into the dealership to have it looked and they said Toyota was aware of the issues on some of the Siennas and that there was no fix. They said they are working a redesign! Why did they let this go out the door. Furthermore, when we asked the dealership to help us out and resolve the issue, they said it's not their problem (there exact words). I will never buy a Toyota again!!

Best Features

AWD

Worst Features

Fix the squeaky seats. I feel like i'm driving in a rusty 1990 ford pickup truck. Toyota needs to improve their customer relations. Dealerships should not be telling customers that have known issues that Toyota has admitted to that it's not there problem.

Pay very special attention to the plastic coated steel wire that is part of power sliding door mechanism. You can find this wire in the groove/track under the rear windows. The plastic coating of this wire on my van dried up and cracked, exposing the steel wire. When this happens, the door will be hard to open. When the steel is completely exposed, eventually the cable can snap. It happened to me and my doors (yes, both sliding doors) are only in manual mode now. I was told that it would cost $2000/door to fix. The front doors have welding issues. When they are opened and closed, they make a LOUD "snapping" noise. This model came with runflat tires. They are expensive to replace.

Best Features

Power Sliding Side Doors... When they were working...

Worst Features

Either rework the power sliding door mechanism so that no coated steel wires are used or warranty the power door mechanism (includes everything that has anything to do with the opening and closing of the side doors) for life. Ditch runflat tires!!!!

Review

Bought this van when our 2nd child was on her way last June. Immediately loved the practicality and versatility of the interior. It just makes life easy with kiddos in car seats. Also have used it to haul various cargo and people and wondered what we did without it. It drives well for a van with a smooth ride although the steering and brake feel are a little light. The dash plastic is a tad on the cheesy side but the switchgear has a quality feel. Unfortunately so far we have had a window leak, a recall notice for the brake pedal bracket, and now have a stability control problem that has illuminated 4 warning lights and the central info screen. What the heck has happened to Toyota Quality?

Best Features

The room, the versatility, the ease of access. It's very maneuverable for a vehicle it's size. It also gets very good mileage: up to 19 MPG in town!

Worst Features

Improved quality both in interior materials and build quality. Also, the steering, brake, and throttle calibrations could be improved. We might be looking at an Odyssey now with as many problems as we've experienced so far.

Review

First van. Previously we had two accords and two Volvo wagons. This van drives much nicer than expected. Its not as comfortable as a Volvo xc70, but has much more room. The ride and feel is solid. The v6 has plenty of power. I test drove the Honda and liked this as well. The run flat tires are not as loud or stiff as one might expect from other reviews. I rate this van as a buy.

Best Features

Looks. Power doors. Auto up on all windows. Power of the engine.

Worst Features

No light on homelink buttons. Cheap feel of plastic interior. Antenna. No a/c button light. And, yes I stole some of these. No spring on the hood really surprised me as cheap.the rear view mirror could help with blind spots if it was a bit wider. Child seat latches are impossible!
