Haniff, My letter to Toyota produced a response via a phone message. They had received the letter and included it in my file for my established case number. I agree. My thought process when I bought the Toyota in 2009 was, these things don't happen with a Toyota. This will be my 200k mile vehicle, like my inlaw's Camry (175k and counting). So I declined. Our 2009 Sienna lost all of its' refrigerant charge. Tech found a leak at front evaporator core with sniffer. You can always turn off the ignition at a long traffic light. Or plan your route so you have more right turns than left, avoiding even more lights. I'm no hyper-miler, but I am practical when it comes to stuff like that. EPA revised and lowered the numbers. Those are correct today but IIRC it was 19/26 on the Monroney. It's easy to beat the new EPA numbers.
I own a 2006 Dodge Caravan SE (4 cyl). I have got as high as 32 mpg on the highway (60 mph and flat highway). Combined city/highway is around 24 mpg.
Maybe you've gotten lucky :) Your EPA shows 17/24 If you sit idling you're getting 0 mpg (suppose I'm stating the obvious)...so I can see getting in the teens if you're idling waiting for kids, fast food, prescription, atm, etc... Not to say something isn't wrong with the Van...could be.
Something is wrong - I have never had a full tank average less than 20mpg, not once. Even in winter, in-town driving. 2007 Sienna FWD 3.5l V6. Have your previous cars done OK relative to what other were getting?
Overall mpg? I never see over 20mpg in combined driving (05 Quest SE). The only time my average is over 20mpg is when there is a lengthly highway trip. If I were to guess what the 'trip-mpg' reads right now it would probably show16mpg or ... Read More

I don't know why it got a 4-star rating the IIHS gave it a good rating, which is the highest they give for both front and side. It did really well in both impacts. We were rear-ended in our previous 04 Sienna and walked away, they only test the actual seat and headrest. Starting with the 2009 Sienna Toyota put in a new headrest design which I think are the active ... Read More
On April 9 2009 I had just turned onto a side street going approx 5-6 MPH when a car ran a stop sign hitting my 2005 Sienna XLE on the rear door/back wheel area on driver's side pushing my angle slightly to the left. My van immediately went into a full acceleration ramming into a car (going in opposite direction) waiting for a red light, all the time with the engine reving. ... Read More
I had the same problem with Sienna 2004. As I drove it out brand new from the Toyota dealer in 2004 and got it in front of the driveway, I noticed an oily patch under the front left tire. I checked and saw it was coming from the strut. I took it back to the dealer who with a smile had the strut replaced under warranty. Recently, in april 2009 after ... Read More
Actually I just read that Toyota will be boosting production of the Sienna along with the Camry, Corolla, Rav4, Tacoma, and Tundra I think. The Sienna was one of the top selling models for them this past selling period I guess. here's a link. http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2009/06/04/464447.html I am sure they will invest in the Sienna to keep it competitive.
My wife drove our 2006 Sienna XLE AWD with JBL for 3 years and loved the sound. I needed to buy another van earlier this year and got a 2009 Sienna XLE with DVD and plenty of stuff but no JBL. The van is fine and does what we need it to except for the sound. This is not her primary vehicle and she hates the sound system. Stations she listens ... Read More
Hi, I am interested in buying a sienna XLE with option 3 or 2, has anybody bought it in some dealers close to Chicago? Any dealer recommended. I am now a Honda guy, for Honda most people go to Elmhurt Honda because they can give you the lowest price. Since I am so new to Toyota, not sure if there is such one dealer so I don't need to hassle with ... Read More

Ok, after bouncing around on the Internet, I now have a theory on what's going on (and a dealer friend of mine can't say officially that I'm right, but he wouldn't dispute it either). The new redesigned '11 Sienna will be based on the MC platform that is also used for Camry, Highlander and others, and will go into production this coming January. It appears the 2010 Honda Odyssey will also ... Read More
Is the residual set by Toyota or buy the individual dealerships? I'm in Rochester NY, and a dealer told me the residual is about $12k...that seems ridiculous, since there are no 3-year old used Siennas on the market for anything close to that low. Just wondering how much bargaining room I have on that - more if it's his number than if it's Toyotas, I imagine. Thanks!
Was in the market yesterday for a Sienna limited vs Odyssey touring, same dilemma as many others have faced. Summary of Toyota experience: surprised that here in the Atlanta area practically all the 2009s are gone, and only a few 2010s have arrived. Great deals on 2009s if they have what you are looking for. Some dealers claim the 2010 will not be here til sept, wrong, drove one yesterday and ... Read More
I just bought a 2009 XLE AWD Lmtd w/package #2 (nav and rear entertainment) for 35500 (only 4500 more than the prices we saw for the XLE) + taxes + tags. I am unhappy with the run flat tires, NAV system limitations, and lack of XM radio. It has ~1500 miles on it now (had 1100 when purchased). I wish I had done more research on the tires and the NAV ... Read More

Isn't big screens in the back fantastic! Now let me ask you something... are you quoting your model or the current model? Correct me if I am wrong but don't you have an 06 from the previous design? Maybe I am wrong but I thought I remember you mentioning this. I hear ya on the lateral grip, and 0 - 60 times. But I can pass on that for saving over ... Read More
