Oh let's see. There is clearly an electrical problem. I have an 08 sienna with 14k miles. Once or twice over last year...display on radio went out. Still playing and came back on during the ride or next time. Over the last few weeks, the car was hesitating when starting; almost like the battery was going. I also like the overhead controls (temp, compass) on the LE EVP#2 That's the trip computer I was mentioning, I love it too, especially the fuel economy read outs. 2 of our 3 vehicles have that and I miss it when I'm driving the 3rd one. You and "johnsienna" give a very accurate description of the transmission hesitation. This is definitely a problem with the 08. I also owned an 04 Sienna and did not have this problem. This hesitation has become much more noticeable after we reached 20-25k miles. It is intermittent but very noticeable. The dealer said they can not do anything unless there is ... Read More...

The hesitation coming off of corners is a design issue with the transmission (if it were Microsoft they'd call it a 'feature'). Every Sienna has it and it is not a defective part so the dealer cannot do anything for you. Toyota may re-engineer it in some future model, but don't expect to get the upgrade. Hi there - I've experience the exact same issue with my 2008 Toyota Sienna. The hesitation in shifting at low speeds when accellerating after slowing down to turn a corner occurs intermittently but is quite noticeable. For the benefit of anyone who encounters this same issue, they finally brought in a specialized technician from Toyota, who authorized the replacement of the 6 fuel injectors (on warranty) and bingo, the problem is solved! We had a similar problem with our 2008 XLE. I suspect the problem is that sometimes the sliding doors don't go all the way back and lock / engage. When I disable the automatic doors and manually slide the doors back, they sometimes "click" into place.
