Purchased this rare optioned Sienna in Germany for military service members. It has sonar parking assist and 8 cloth seats, otherwise, it is a standard XLE. Wonderful car! Fits my criteria for the perfect minivan: quiet, smooth ride that offers best environment for conversations within the vehicle. Great power in reserve for those situations when you really need it, like merging onto freeways. Nice bells and whistles (described below) combined with great reliability and quality has resulted in a near perfect people hauler. Safety features such as 3-row curtain bags, Vehicle Stability Control, TRAC, and four- wheel disc anti-lock brakes provide peace of mind. Videos in rear is nice.
Power sliding doors and hatch is very handy. Three zone automatic climate control is a dream come true. Especially value the sonar parking assist feature that beeps in an increasing frequency the closer you get to an object - - mandatory feature for large vehicles in my opinion. Love this van!!!!
Hybrid technology would be the only recommendation to make this mini-van the best it can be.
2005 Toyota Sienna Minivan LE 7-Passenger Fwd 4dr Minivan (3.3L 6cyl 5A)
We have owned this car for a few months and it really stands out, but one problem is 2003 Toyota Sienna CE had more feauters than this LE, but not including the Homelink or the folding seats. The fuel economy is average for its power. Another thing is that the Honda Ody. EX without leather cost the same but with much better features like two power sliding doors and 6 CD changer!!
Homelink, power sliding door, folding seats, power 2nd row windows
a little better fuel economy and better feauters like in the Honda Ody.
Great comfortable ride, but over 12 mos consistent problems with electronic transmission, (we have been told there is a recall coming for this issue), power lift gate in cold weather, (comes down unexpectedly while standing under) and now after 20k mi. we are told all 4 Run Flat tires are "bad" and Toyota won't replace. Service manager confirms "this has been a problem with these run flat tires."
Comfortable, quiet ride. Power doors. Use of space. All wheel drive.
Poor reliability. Correct known issues with electronic transmisson and fast wear on the Run Flat tires.
We looked at several minivans to replace our 98 Chevy Venture. In many ways we liked the Dodge/Chrysler vans better, but seat comfort actually helped win us to the Sienna. We're a little underimpressed with the mileage and power. The heating and A/C controls are a tad confusing. Quality is excellent. It's very quiet. Sometimes we're not sure the engine is on. Initial acceleration is a bit slow, but on highway pickup is good.
Automatic lift gate; large console for storage; white gauges are nice.
Put an arrow to where the FAN button is to differentiate from driver TEMP; it's quite confusing now. Make 6-CD changer and option that doesn't require getting leather and other higher priced options.
