We wanted a smaller SUV with a V-6, maximum room for the class, and a moderate price for the class, and this fit the bill perfectly. We compared others, and none had the combination of our four main wants. We also considered the Lexus RX350 and the Volvo XC60 but didn't see $15-$20K worth of quality differences ("prestige" in a vehicle was not one of our needs).
Cargo room, especially with the 2nd row seats folded flat (and they do fold FLAT with the head rests removed - we store them in the cubbyhole beneath the load floor). The power of the V-6 - 269 HP - really scoots it along.
There is a lot, and I mean A LOT, of plastic in the interior and it is easily scratched, but that comes standard with most vehicles in this price class.
