In my case it was only NINE days over the warranty period. Mine is a 2002 Rav4 and was bought on Oct.1 2001 (which I didn't know beforehand, because I'm not the original owner). The transmission problems started on Sept 30, 2011 only ONE DAY before the enhanced warranty expired! (talk about timing!)Unfortunately, I was going out of the country on Sept 30 for 9 days, so couldn't bring it in ... Read More
Greetings, I checked out the TSB for this issue posted above (I requested that someone post a while ago); here it is again: http://www.rav4world.com/tsb/2011/T-SB-0094-11.pdf It looks like the TSB states that this issue is limited to 4-cylinder Toyotas. Has anyone experienced this issue w/ V6 Rav4's? Thanks alot -
My 2007 Rav 4 has 59,000 miles and still under platinum coverage extended warranty for another 3 months. I am struggling with the Oil consumption issue for last 9 months. Hey all We are having similar problems with our Rav4, Limited Edition, 2011. About 3 months ago, our son left a light on overnight. No surprise, the car wouldn't start. Tow Truck came, boosted it, let it run for 30 minutes. When we turned it off and tried to restart, nothing. It was towed then to a dealership. They said the battery was dead, replaced it. Things were fine until Tuesday. ... Read More

My 2007 Rav4 has this engine. The problem was noticed just after the 60,000-mile warranty. ... Read More
I live in Greater Boston. In January I leased a 2011 Rav4 base model 4x4 with automatic transmission. It was a 36 month lease with 12k miles/year. The MSRP was $25,124. Hi, Have you research 2012 model? Is it me or is there a shortage for 2012 model? The 2011 limited RAV4 used to come fully equipped with nav, back up cam, tow prep, and then some (molding, exhaust tip, etc). I could not find equivalent model in So Cal. Hi wink2K- it was Rodland Toyota in Everett, WA. 19 mile drive from where we live in Seattle, but worth the trip. I just got it this past Saturday and they still had a good selection of colors in the 2011 4WDs, and there might also be some 2012s there by now. I had a great experience there - no last minute surprises, everything very straightforward. Good luck!
Just purchased a new 2011 base FWD RAV4 with extra value package, cargo mat set and mudflaps. We chose to forego the financing and took the Toyota rebate of $500, for a total price of $21,859 plus tax of $2142 (I'm in Washington state, so tax was 9.5%), dealer doc fee $150 and licensing/registration $200. Toyota made a change to the 4 cylinder equipped RAV4 models in 2009. The new 2.5 engine does not appear to have the oil consumption problems mentioned by those having earlier models. verdi942, Why it's illegal for an insurance carrier to sell GAP coverage in NY is a mystery to me. It just doesn't make any sense. I would press further. Where does it say that it's illegal? delta, here in New York, my insurance company refused to sell me gap insurance - they said it wasn't legal to so here; so Toyota, unlike every other company I've ever leased from, charges me about $7.00/mo for it.
tsalvo978, The $399 paid for GAP coverage is a rip-off and grossly excessive. As a rule of thumb, you can purchase GAP coverage from your insurance carrier for an annual premium of about 0.1% of the MSRP. In your case, this amounts to about $25 annually. The insurer simply adds a GAP rider to your automobile insurance policy. FYI- Toyota does a few things that other finance captives don't do... (1) ... Read More

Are you saying you gave the dealer $7205.79 plus 316.60/mo for this car? That's expensive. [FWIW, you DO need Gap Insurance, and Toyota charges me about $7.00/mo. for it on my lease of the same model car].
