This is the vehicle I am trying to buy. But how do you come to your $100 over invoice conclusion? First, why is your base invoice is lower than the base invoice of $20,611 according to both Edmunds and Consumer Reports? Does it vary by location? I live in Washington state. You are correct that the invoice price does not include holdback. It is 3% on Toyota and most American cars. This is pretty widely known information and easy to find out. Really why would a dealer sell for less than he paid for it? Now I will take exception on how much profit a dealer really gets though. First off is TDA, which is an advertising fee paid to Toyota. eynht - I saw that also, but there are some flaws with the Edmunds total. Edmunds does not provide an invoice price for the floor mats (CF) in their calculation. It should be $126. That brings the invoice up to $27,768. The wheel locks (WL) are $81 MSRP and $65 invoice.That brings the invoice up to $27,833. Edmunds does not provide the cost of advertising in their ...
