My 2009 RAV4 will NOT START once a week or sometimes in a two week period,, it can happen anywhere and the dealer cannot find out what the problem is. I have taked it to two Toyota dealers, one Titus-Will Toyota in Tacoma and the other to Toyota of Puyallup WA.... they act like I am a liar because they cannot find a trouble code. Toyota RAV4 Transmission Troubles

Re: 2001-2005 RAV4 with ECM/Transmission problems [melody11]

I used to love my RAV4 until it died with only 107,000 miles on it. I took meticulous care of it only to have the transmission fail due to the defective design that Toyota has been aware of for more than three years. This has been one of the most stressful experiences of my life. Toyota on the national and local levels has been awful to deal with. These cars are very dangerous; ... Read More...

Re: 2001-2005 RAV4 with ECM/Transmission problems [melody11]

Does anyone know when, what year, the RAV4 went to DBW, E-throttle. That was the technique Toyota used in an attempt to fix this same problem, seemingly, with the RX330. Flawed transaxle design modifications incorporated in the early RX was migrated to other FWD vehicles within just a few years. Read More...

Toyota RAV4 Battery and Electrical Problems

Re: 2005 Rav4 leaves me stranded [tidester]

Never had any problems with my Toyota. Toyotas have few if any issues and most problems are caused by their owners (where they park it, leaves (environment-dirt clogging), abuse,etc.). Their nearly perfect cars. Perhaps its the gas you use. Read More...

Re: 2005 Rav4 leaves me stranded [rkljajic]

Hi Beth. Sounds like we both have experienced the same life threatening problems with our Toyotas! I also bought my vehicle brand new, I figured with a brand new vehicle...you would not have someone elses' problems...humph, not so in this case! I have the same lemon law in my state that you mentioned, since my car was at 37K when it started having the problems I mentioned. ... Read More...

Re: 2005 Rav4 leaves me stranded [lizzie06]

Sorry to hear about your ongoing nightmare! I, too, had all this happen between 18 months and 36 months of ownership. And I purchased the Sequoia new! It turned out to be the cars electric harness; the dealer who finally found the problem said they were surprised it had ever run at all. I had the same things happening: driving 70 miles per hour and the engine would ... Read More...

2005 Rav4 leaves me stranded

Hello all. I am new to this forum, but so glad I found it, since I am learning from all of your posts. I bought my 2005 RAV4 brand new from Carmax, it was less costly as to opposed to buying at the local dealership in my area. It only has 37,000 miles on it and had not had a problem until recently. My car continues to leave me stranded! This has occurred 3x in May! Twice I was ... Read More...

Mazda CX-7 v Toyota RAV4 v Honda CR-V

Re: Toyota Rav4 V6, Mazda CX-7, Honda CR-V comparison [dmele426]

I have a CRV EX-L 2007 too. A Very, very good car for it's intended purpose - a CUV with AWD. My wife loves it. We're in the same gneral area that you are - Westchester Co, NY. I definetely agree with you, It's a "chick" car, even Honda's literature will tell you that. It was designed specifically for women with young children - easy access, a "cute" look to it, etc. I too ... Read More...
