2010 Prius - Next Generation

Re: Prius for Brazil [victorbrazil]

Are you buying 2010 or 2009 models. I think that makes a big difference. I have a 2004 (same as 2009) which has had no real problems other than TSB's that were applied, at no cost, by my nearby Toyota dealer. Some of those were major.(anew fuel system, a new display and dashboard innards etc., other were minor. While the 2010 model is superior in performance and mileage, ... Read More...

Toyota Prius vs VW Golf TDI

Re: wow [gagrice]

I would not hold my breath for Toyota to offer a Plug-in hybrid. No need to... Toyota will unveil its long anticipated plug-in hybrid Prius at the Frankfurt Motor Show. In early 2010, over 500 Prius PHEVs will be leased to fleet customers in Japan, the United States, and Europe. These pre-production cars will let Toyota evaluate their performance in a real-world ... Prius Owners w/50K - What We Think Now

Prius odor issues - responses appreciated

I've got a new 2009 Prius. At just over 3000 miles it began to exude an odor like burning plastic. Odor got strong enough to permeate clothing and make my eyes burn. Dealer has tried 3X to figure out what's causing it. Third time they had the car a week...Toyota tech suggested they use an odonizer (device to remove odors, normally used on homes w/flood damage). An ... Read More...

Toyota Prius Brake Problems

Prius Brake Issues

Well, it happened to me yesterday (September 19,2009). I was in love with my 2008 Prius (despite having to spend a couple of hours to figure out how to operate the danged thing). I was pulling out of a parking lot, moving very slowly ,when I saw a car turn the corner and drive down the street which I was entering. I immediately applied the brakes HARD and to my dismay, ... Toyota Prius vs VW Golf TDI

Re: C4C's impact on diesel sales [backy]

I think you are trying to play verbal games which is fine. But I don't see any data that says Toyota will build anything in their Tupelo plant in 2011. All I see is it is on hold. June 10, 2009 Toyota broke ground on the $1.3 billion Tupelo plant in 2006 to produce Highlander crossovers. Last summer the automaker delayed the project and then later changed plans to produce ... Re: C4C's impact on diesel sales [backy]

As for Toyota closing its NUMMI plant after GM pulled out of the partnership... what does that have to do with the Prius vs.Golf? More than once Ahnold begged Toyota to build the Prius in CA the largest buyer of the model in the USA. The new Tupelo plant will not likely see the Prius. Jun 13th 2009 at 2:01PM Steve St. Angelo, senior vice president of Toyota Motor Engineering ... Read More...

Re: C4C's impact on diesel sales [backy]

If you are as concerned about mileage as you say, you would be a VW fan rather than a Toyota fan. "We are extremely pleased with our August sales results. The government sponsored Cash for Clunkers program was instrumental at sparking the entire auto industry. The fact that Volkswagen currently has more vehicles that attain 25 miles per gallon or better on the ... Read More...

Re: Toyota Prius vs VW Golf TDI [pf_flyer]

I have an interesting comparison between the Prius and the Golf TDI. Well, interesting to me, but unlikely to sway anyone in their purchase decision. It is a comparison of steady-state driving efficiency. I had found this website: http://www.epa.gov/otaq/tcldata.htm which lists the a-b-c coefficients for all 2009 vehicles. the abc's are used to calculate ... Read More...
