Re: Do You Suppose? [kdhspyder]
I've also heard that Toyota lowered the cost of the battery packs considerably. I am pretty certain I read that the MSRP for the 2004-2009 battery pack is $2200.00 As time goes on, I would expect that cost to even lower. If you look at eBay there is almost always a few people selling salvage battery packs from Prius'. Read More...

Re: 2009 Prius Touring Package # 5 North Carolina [gremlinperson]
What dealer did you deal with? I bought from Toyota in Goldsboro, but could have made a very similiar deal with Leith Toyota in raleigh. Fred Anderson was at least $2000 higher. Read More...
Re: 2004-2009 Prius Brake Failure Rate is High [ganderc]
You can bump the number of complaints up by one. I've finally submitted mine for my 2007 Prius with 37,020 miles. Like others, I was traveling at a low speed, about 15mph. I had to do a quick stop because of a car stopped in my lane. There were parked cars on one side and opposing traffic on the other so I had no avoidance options. When I jammed on the brake, absolutely ... Read More...
Re: May-2009 Hybrid Sales [gasout]
Car and Driver also didn't rate it very well in their 600 mile loop. Don't have the mag here now but 36 comes to mind and 42 for the 2010 Prius which was the same as the third car they also tested along with the Honda and Toyota. What was the 3rd car. A 12 year old Chevy Metro with over 100+K on it. Read More...

Re: 2009 Prius Touring Package # 5 North Carolina [antonio1]
OK - here's the real data : MSRP was $29,500. Extra Value Package deduct $2650 for Total Sticker Price of $26850. From the sales ticket, actual total price was $22780. Taxes, fees etc a little under $900. My Corolla had been "examined" by three other dealers (two Toyota and one Honda). Trade value ranged from $4500 (Honda, one Toy) to $6500 (on a Standard Prius, ... Read More...
Re: May-2009 Hybrid Sales
We traded 2005 Prius for 2010 Insight. We loved the Pruis but Insight is a great car. It gets over 53 MPG (mostly highway) very consistently. I dont know why the EPA rating is so low. We were getting close to 50 MPG with 2005 Prius and I cant wait to get the new Prius for my wife so we can compare the two over the same route. The Toyota dealer said mid July but I hope it is ... Anyone Hear of a Prius Catching Fire?
2009 Prius Fire
Our 2-week-old 2009 Prius caught fire in our driveway in the middle of the night. The fire started in the rear battery compartment - same as the others I've read in this forum. We're waiting to see how Toyota will respond. As I consider whether to replace the car with another Prius, I am concerned to read in this forum that there have been almost identically described ... May-2009 Hybrid Sales
May-2009 Hybrid sales, Ford - 3,906 Honda - 4,857 Toyota - 14,846 GM - 1,739 Total - 25,348 I guess its the highest in this year. Probably Hybrids captured 2.8 % share. For Ford, this is the record, seems Fusion/Milan Hybrids have sold very well. Also Ford retained #2 share in US market pushing Toyota to #3 place. For Toyota, Prius was launched only on May-18 and so ... Read More...

2009 Prius Touring Package # 5 North Carolina
Memorial Day weekend I also picked up a 2009 Spectra Blue Touring Prius, package #5. I live near Raleigh, NC, and did some serious hagggling with the local Big Dealer in town. I ended up driving about 75 miles to Goldsboro NC, and bought my car there. The car was not what I had planned for(had agreed to a Standard package #3 for$23,000), but the price for the Touring ...
