Re: Sudden loss of power doing 65 MPH [wingman]

2009 Prius 15000 miles No Nav My wifes prius has experienced this exact issue on two ocassions. The first time Toyota took the car and 3 days later with the help of HQ stated that there was a loose communications wire that connects the battery monitor system with the control computer. The second time they took the vehicle and it is still in the shop. This is a large ... Read More...

Anyone Hear of a Prius Catching Fire?

Re: 2009 Prius Fire [whitey9]

I am not familiar with anybody having a Prius fire in their garage. That is exactly what was posted. A Prius exploding and burning inside a garage. On Sunday July 26 2009 at 2am my 2005 prius (fully loaded model) caught fire in the garage. The neighbors said that they heard 2 explosions (probably batteries blowing up from heat) and then the garage burst into flames. ... Read More...

Prius III with Nav @ $369 below MSRP

Just got the P3w/Nav yesterday from Fitzmall (Lakeforest Toyota) in Gaithersburg at $369 below MSRP. A $200 mats add-on came with the vehicle - guess all new ones have that as a standard option? Did have to put in a refundable deposit to wait on the car we wanted two weeks ahead of taking delivery (they did not have the Nav on the cars they had on the lot). Smooth transaction ... Anyone Hear of a Prius Catching Fire?

Re: Prius on Fire? [2shocked]

Our insurance made prompt payment on my 2009 Prius which also caught fire in the middle of the night (previously posted), but I never heard how Toyota dealt with it. Last week I heard of another Prius catching fire in Santa Rosa, CA, but could not get any details. Please let us know what happens. I'm very glad nobody was hurt. Read More...

On Sunday July 26 2009 at 2am my 2005 prius (fully loaded model) caught fire in the garage. The neighbors said that they heard 2 explosions (probably batteries blowing up from heat) and then the garage burst into flames. The prius, the garage and my wife's car were all totally destroyed. The firemen all said that in their opinion the genesis of the fire was with the ... Read More...

Toyota Prius Brake Problems

Re: 2004-2009 Prius Brake Failure Rate is High [jpeters1970]

I just bought a certified used 2005 three weeks ago, and since then I have had this happen TWICE, which is why I'm on the Internet searching for information about it. Fortunately, so far, the break has eventually engaged just in the nick of time but it has made this usually very confident driver more than a little squeamish about driving in Chicago area traffic. ... 2010 Prius - Next Generation

Re: Do You Suppose? [kdhspyder]

I've also heard that Toyota lowered the cost of the battery packs considerably. I am pretty certain I read that the MSRP for the 2004-2009 battery pack is $2200.00 As time goes on, I would expect that cost to even lower. If you look at eBay there is almost always a few people selling salvage battery packs from Prius'. Read More...

Re: 2009 Prius Touring Package # 5 North Carolina [gremlinperson]

What dealer did you deal with? I bought from Toyota in Goldsboro, but could have made a very similiar deal with Leith Toyota in raleigh. Fred Anderson was at least $2000 higher. Read More...

Toyota Prius Brake Problems

Re: 2004-2009 Prius Brake Failure Rate is High [ganderc]

You can bump the number of complaints up by one. I've finally submitted mine for my 2007 Prius with 37,020 miles. Like others, I was traveling at a low speed, about 15mph. I had to do a quick stop because of a car stopped in my lane. There were parked cars on one side and opposing traffic on the other so I had no avoidance options. When I jammed on the brake, absolutely ... Read More...
