I am not familiar with anybody having a Prius fire in their garage. That is exactly what was posted. A Prius exploding and burning inside a garage. On Sunday July 26 2009 at 2am my 2005 prius (fully loaded model) caught fire in the garage. Just got the P3w/Nav yesterday from Fitzmall (Lakeforest Toyota) in Gaithersburg at $369 below MSRP. A $200 mats add-on came with the vehicle - guess all new ones have that as a standard option? Did have to put in a refundable deposit to wait on the car we wanted two weeks ahead of taking delivery (they did not have the Nav on the cars they had on the lot). Smooth transaction ... Our insurance made prompt payment on my 2009 Prius which also caught fire in the middle of the night (previously posted), but I never heard how Toyota dealt with it. Last week I heard of another Prius catching fire in Santa Rosa, CA, but could not get any details. Please let us know what happens. I'm very glad nobody was hurt. Read More...

I've also heard that Toyota lowered the cost of the battery packs considerably. I am pretty certain I read that the MSRP for the 2004-2009 battery pack is $2200.00 As time goes on, I would expect that cost to even lower. If you look at eBay there is almost always a few people selling salvage battery packs from Prius'. Read More...

You can bump the number of complaints up by one. I've finally submitted mine for my 2007 Prius with 37,020 miles. Like others, I was traveling at a low speed, about 15mph.
